  • Income is down slightly even though traffic is slowly going back up. I think it's more to do with Amazon though as a bunch of different sites in different niches have had really bad conversions this week. I'm guessing but I guess it's supply chain issues/silicon chip shortages knocking items out of stock.
  • I have been looking into my rank tracker and some of the keywords that jumped into first a few weeks back then fell to third are now in second and that's why traffic is up a little bit. I'm taking this as a sign that those keywords dropping in position had nothing to do with the November update from Google and that it was just the Google dance as normal.
  • I manually went over some of the test batches on this domain to try and settle on what I want to scale into for my domain for next year and I am set on the strategy that I want to use for the first six months worth of content and then I will see how things are going.

Hello, doesn't Ezoic affect your site speed thereby causing issues with Google Core Experience (or whatever they call it?)

That's my Page Experience tab for the site in Google Search Console. By chance, the pages that don't have a "good" rating from Google actually have no Ezoic ads on them and it's the comparison table from AAWP that is causing issues.

Ezoic is more open to beginner bloggers who have a bunch of problems on their blog already so often get the blame for stuff like that. For example, one of my friends was using the Divi Page Builder for his site and thought it was Ezoic causing his problems. I told him to switch Divi out to the Astra theme and use static page loads just to try it and most of the issues went away so something as simple as that can be the issue. Another very common one is people not optimising huge images prior to uploading them to their blog but the free version of ShortPixle is usually enough to get that fixed.

I manually place my placeholders so I get to choose where ads can show as well as how many can be on a page max so it also helps to keep page load speeds lower than if you just let ads show up all over the place too.

Blogging is a waste of time. YouTube is the new blog. People want to watch a video and get their information in under 2 minutes, they don't want to read articles. This is 2021 not 2001.

You place your ads below the fold right? Nd how many ads per 1k words content?

Thanks again.

How much money do you earn from your YouTube channel each month? Also, most YouTube videos are much longer than 2 minutes >.<.
Thanks.

I have one above the fold for mobile and two for desktop and table with one in the sidebar. I'm not actually sure for 1k words, probably seven placeholder slots not including the sidebar but it won't put an ad into all of them all of the time.

Do you use Google search? If yes, then most search results are from articles, hence you're reading blogs unknowingly.

Also, it's easier to skim through an article than a 30 min video tutorial.

So it doesn't matter if blogging is hot or not as a hobby, it matters if it's useful and profitable.

Hey Shaun,
Watched a couple of your videos yesterday night. You have some BIG plans for 2022 it seems :).

Do you plan to monitor progress of your 2022 project here on BHW? And can you share a bit more details on it, such as your action plan, number of articles you plan to publish, etc?

Yea its probably the biggest blogging project I have planned yet and I will be doing a journey thread on BHW for it too. I already have around 130 articles banked for the project ready to publish in January and I'm trying to add at least 2 per day myself and anything I can get from freelance writers. Keyword wise, I am still doing keyword research but it will probably have a few thousand articles on it once complete and take a few years to work through all of the keywords even with freelance writers helping.

Maybe you don't cache the info from the amazon API long enough, i have it set to the maximum value (1 week), if you set it for just 24 hours, that might be the reason for slowing down your website.

Let us know if it will have an impact on your website.
From my experience when i had it set for 24hrs, my page experience was around 95% constantly, after switching to to 1 week, i get 100% and rarely it gets 99%. :)

Same as my responce to the question below regarding display ads to these sites in particular. The blog I am building in this journey thread will be based around having content for display ads and affiliate links though. I have a few things left to do today then I will start working through the keyword batch I have read and see what I can find for an informational/buyer intent traffic split.

Cheers pal, yea Amazon Affiliate only, those sites were built for products with a commission of around $12-$16 with an article layout to send people to Amazon ASAP so I think display ads might actually hurt income by taking clicks away from Amazon.
You put Amazon ASAP on every article?

How much do you outsource your article for 1000 words?
Thanks. I write 2000 words need two days, very slow.

I'm paying around $50 per 1500ish words right now but trying a bunch of writers and price points. Check out my video below on how I write some of my blog posts quickly, it doesn't work for all blog post types but it might be helpful.

Yea I agree mate, the niche I'm working on now and for the next few years need a bit more time to publish the articles unless you know the niche well though, it should still end up profitable but it will just take longer.
