Hey What's Up!

About Me:
I come from a very poor background, from a young age, I just want to get rich, period. I started doing ebay from 2007 to 2009, selling authentic sneakers on ebay, then slowly included nikeskateboarding and solecollector. The business was profitable, but was very effort and time consuming. In late 2009, I got into some other venue and stepped away from ebay. Time flies, 11 years later in late 2020, I restarted ebay basically on a dare from my good childhood friend who runs a successful Amazon FBA business. I studied and refreshed myself with ebay (quite frankly, it is an entirely different universe compare to the old times), and I started selling in March 2021. After numerous of trials and errors, endless buyer disputes and ebay suspension, the business has slowly grown and gained some tractions.

The purpose of this thread is to share my Ebay journey (with periodic update and account sales report), the detail of the parameter is listed below,

Platform: ebay
Starting Date: March, 2021
Current Value Per Year: Estimated $700,000/yr
Goal: $10,000,000/yr
Method: Legit tangible products, strictly drop shipping or FBO, no product in hand

November 2022 Update (Each account is assigned a serial number in red for easy following)
Thought: Nov 2021 was brutal, got 3-4 accounts suspended over a weekend, I am ready for whatever that might come. However, Dec 2021 sales was very nice, probably due to holiday season, hoping to ride these accounts safely thru Dec. Account 3C had a holy $hit moment, reaching $2,000/per, but it did not stay. Last year, I had an account behaving similarly and ended up getting banned two weeks later, hope this time around, it would be better.

WIll be following your journey. But, I don't understand, don't you sort of have to have product shipment on time on ebay? and why did you get suspended or banned?

The only metric that ebay judge you on is when you upload your tracking, the delivery time is part of the feedback/dispute part of the equation. so in other words, ebay only cares about when you ship it out, but don't care when the customer receive it unless they start to file dispute. You can set your ship out time to 7 business days.

There is no specific reason, even if an account has the best metric could be banned if ebay algo think you are a drop shipper or think you are a scammer. There are too many parameters to their algo, instead of trying to figure it out, you just have to live with it.

You have back to back agreements with the supplier incase of disputes/refunds?

And your supplier must be really nice to give you decent margins on the products you're selling. :D

Your average profit?
the book profit, cost plus shipping (not counting return, lost, defect) has to be 4-5 times the product for me, I never calculated the real profit, but base on my bank statement, I tend to think that I make 3-3.5 times of cost of product after I take return, lost and defect into consideration.

no, i started more heavily on drop shipping, but now I move to a FBO model more, I store products with shipper here in the US, and they ship it out for a small cost for me. I don't want to bear the labor cost, storage cost and potential dealing with labor laws, I will let someone else deal with those headache.

Great job mate! You seem to be on track to hit your goal. :)

How did you bring in traffic to your stores? Seems to be scaling quite well considering you only started again in march 2021 with multiple bans as well.

started with ebay marketing and mark down, but over time, the best way is to sell the products cheaper than the other guys until you build sufficient "bought items" in your listing, then you can raise your price, but still should price at the lower group.

I don't do ebay keyword research, because it just consumes too much time, I will just copy the best seller's keyword, and do multiple listings, sometime over 20 listings for the same products, and see how they sell, then I keep the ones that get clicks.

Hi, can I ask how many accounts u have? do u need a company to register these accs?
as I know, if u are an individual seller, there are listing limits so won't make much at all.
thanks and GL~

I have a farm of 200+ accounts, but these are not actively selling, the active accounts are about 10-15. All of my accounts are US based, it is a mixture of individual accounts and company accounts, the individual accounts start with a lower selling limit than the company accounts, however, at the end, both are essentially the same because ebay allows you to grow your selling limit quite easily as long as your performance metric is above average.

What is the price range for your products?

$10-$79
with first class shipping at $4+ (without blackhat tracking), it is hard to generate any profit if the products are under $10

Sales have been slow this whole weekend, started selling from two additional farm accounts, will know soon enough the faith of it....

Leon Lai is the shit.
Good to see a Canto boy here.
Good luck on your journey!

Do you buy these accounts? How do you warm them up? Really interesting!
No I don't buy any accounts, I tried that, but those accounts do not last in my tests. I and my team opened these accounts manually, over time, I developed a procedure of opening the accounts, don't know if they really cracked the youtube algo, but the suspension rate is what I can deal with at the moment, so I just keep rolling with it until I see some evidence that I need to modify.

I think they key here is that you need to be willing to accept that many accounts will be suspended for no reason at all, you just gotta accept it instead of trying to figure out what went wrong because you will never know the true reason of a suspension.

ebay algo I mean, and we don't warm up any account specifically to sell, we do use the accounts on random basis over time (search, add cart, watch list, buy items), so at any moment (after the initial few months), the account is ready to sell.

Accounts are in the farm for minimium of 3 months, periodically/randomly, there will be actions performed with each account to make sure ebay don't think these are stealth/bot accounts. Then we sell very slowly when start using the account for selling, initially listing 1 or 2 items, then start increasing after 1 month, after 3 months, we will double the listing every two weeks or so until we hit the selling limit.
