[Journey] Building a Large Authority Site by 2024

Did you have FAQs on all your articles?

I am seeing folks on FB getting hit with all their articles having FAQs
I'm trying not to add fluff to the articles, some do have FAQs at the bottom but no more than maybe 20-30% of my articles.

In terms of AI, yes I have a few AI assisted articles that I've been creating lately, and in my other journey I do 100% AI. Could possibly have something to do with this, will have to check everything when I get back home. I'm also considering removing lesser quality posts that don't get any traffic.

Did you end up doing some backlinking?
I know you said you weren't but I recall a post that you were going to try a few but can't remember which journey it was.

As long as you weren't doing anything against Google, I wouldn't worry too much about a drop in rankings at this stage. They could just be doing a bit of a dance looking at where to place your site still since it is an older site and has suddenly started gaining more content.
I've seen plenty of sites take a hit and then bounce back within a few weeks by doing nothing. And if you have been building dodgy backlinks maybe see if you can remove them or just disavow them?

I wouldn't wipe the slate clean with this site, at worst take a wee break, let it sit for a few weeks and see where it is after that.
No backlinks yet but I do have some "natural" spam links from these image aggregator sites that seem to crawl and link to every page in the world. Might try some disavowing and see what happens.

Seems like I'm not the only one being hit though, so probably something is up. The SEO sensors (like Semrush) have been through the roof for a month now, never before seen.

from what I see, my little drop is caused by loosing hundreds of long tail KW that generated some traffic, but separately they were like 1 search per day. I ranked 1st for many and now I am 4th -9th, loosing even to quora. I don't have any FAQ, I don't use schemas.

Right guys, so this site is not recovering at all from the update, it got completely smashed and I have no idea why.

As you can see on the screenshot above, the first drop in traffic came around July 16th, and then the final nail in the coffin around August 12th. Impressions rose from 500 a day to 1000-1500 per day but clicks are still not moving.

I've changed host, changed theme, improved page speed, removed (and 301 redirect) some of the lower quality articles I've gotten from some writers, as well as improved other articles. Still no changes in the SERP unfortunately.

As it stands today I will not be working on this site any more. I'm just going to wait and see if a future update will revive the site.

Funny thing is, most of the time you get completely hammered, 0 impressions, 0 clicks and not a single keyword ranking. Heck, you might even get your site completely deindexed. However, this time I see a lot of bloggers say they still receive clicks and impressions, even just a fraction (in my case 10-20%). In fact, I still rank some of my articles #1 and #2 for some unexplainable reason. I still have hopes for the site but I feel I've done what I can for now.

Here's the SERPRobot rankings as of today:

On another note: I've acquired a new website in the same niche, with a lot of potential. Bought it for mid 4-figures and doing the final payment today, should transfer by the end of the week.

I probably won't update this journey as often, if at all to be honest. My goal with the new site is to improve monetization and flip it in the next 6 months. Might make a flipping journey later on.

Thanks for following along guys, a shame it had to end like this.

Does your site have quality backlinks?

It seems that last 2 updates favored sites with quality links ( and content).

Give at least 6 to 9 months before you give up.
