[Journey] Building a Blog from 0 comp keywords and unanswered PAAs

imagine the traffic potential with 50 of those 100 ranking
That would be a major win.
The early signals (during the grace period) were great for you, so I hope for a nice growth in the coming months.

In any case, I am glad to see your update, because the "authentic" blogging journeys here all seem practically dead :).
I hope so too, maybe the core update will roll out with a boost, although I doubt it. Though, I appreciate your support.

Can you explain or share a link to understand what do you mean by this?

Tiny Update

My traffic jumped close to the previous heights. May be related to the core update. Still, it's all from 1 article, living on the edge lol.

MONTHLY UPDATE 4

I'm back to the previous traffic range. This is the best month yet.

ga4.png

GSC shows more traffic than GA. Clicks went from 1.8K last month to 5K now.

EARNINGS

I broke the $100/mo milestone.

Adsense ($13.6) + Affiliate ($97) = $110.6

All the revenue is being generated from a single article so I'm not allowed to get excited just yet xD.

THIS MONTH: $110.6

LAST MONTH: $69.14

It is crazy it all comes from one article :). Do you have any explanation for it?

For example, is this one article in any way different to the rest? Kind of a different keyword, or maybe a "golden nugget" where there's no competition whatsoever, whereas for the other keywords you cover there is some competition?

And if you track the positions for other articles, do they show any progress?

Golden nugget for sure, competition will definitely find it sooner or later.

Some other articles are progressing and some are ranked number 1, but the keywords have virtually zero volume. This is the thing with 0 comp keywords, only a few have volume.

I see now. Hence what is the plan moving forward? Will you try with more articles? Or perhaps you get already some data from GSC to know what kind of keywords to go after?

Some articles need to age, so I'm counting on that. I will also add more articles.

GSC shows only keywords related to the one article, so not usable atm.

From what I understand you have few dozens of articles that are already 4-6 months. None of them have keyword impressions in GSC? Meaning they do not show up in first 100 results for any keyword?

I do get impressions and clicks from other articles, but only a small amount.

The keywords are the ones I already target in the articles, nothing new that I can use.

Mini Update

My traffic dropped to 3000 PV and a big website found my keywords and claimed them.

My moneymaking article is hit, getting 50 visitors per day now. Traffic has been shrinking since end of April.

They rewrote my article and added fluff. Copied my exact title and used the same affiliate programs I use.

Still made $89 this month but it's going to zero quickly.

I have some ideas for new keywords but if they're good, they'll steal this too.

I'll focus on my other projects for a while. I might branch it into a neighboring topic.

Well done, Blogman.

You can also do the same by looking for a blog that has lower DR and scrape their keywords or look for keywords that have forum/UCG on 1st page. (You can find some golden nuggets in the process)

This is so brutal but it does remind us of the nature of this game; the strong would always squeeze the weak unless the weak goes unnoticed. I was kinda thinking about this when I saw a bunch of low competition kw with high volume and I have started to target them. This being the case, my plan to stay afloat even if a big website finds these kw and go after them is to go after a lot of low volume kw's that no one will go after, even new sites. That way, even if a strong site compete with me for the high volume kw, I will still have the low volume kw to cushion the blow. So far, we are going well, I will update my journey at some point.

I was doing that. The problem is these keywords don't have much traffic and once in a while you hit the jackpot, but the bigger websites only have to steal a couple of good keywords from you to take most of your traffic, and you end up with the rest of the keywords that don't make money.
what did you do to bring the traffic back?
It was organic, maybe had to do with that update.

Good to know you were able to achieve your goal in the previous journey and you are going for more, you got hit with low traffic but you made it, most of the people at that point they just stop working and try again in a new project, hope you were able to reach your goal on this journey too.
