Fiver is an easy way to find gigs for writing. Offering your services on this forum when people ask for writers is another way. There are also dedicated marketplaces out there for it.
Don't expect to make much ($1 for 100 words). It pays about $5 - $10 an hour depending on how quick you type and how well you can structure your writing. Even the best only get about $20-$30 an hour for very high quality writing.

(If you end up using Content Daddy from my recommendation, please tell them I referred you in the comment section of the purchase form. There is no affiliate program that I am aware of but I would like them to know I am referring business. I am willing to do that because they deserve it. So please, mention Big Ron if you buy from them.)

I write when I have lots of free time, which I am currently out of (back in school.) So now I buy cheap content (Content Daddy here on BHW) and then take the time to proof it and edit it. It is the best I have found for the price, but not perfect. Content Daddy has many different writers and some just plain suck. I have spent two hours editing a post from them before. But I learned to start politely asking them NOT to give any of my future articles to "the writer who completed this one." I'm not sure they are complying 100% but articles are getting better over time.

So, I buy 1500 words for $15. A good article only requires about 10-20 minutes of my time reformatting headings, adding "bucket brigades", bolding and underlines for enhancements, etc. This works for me for two reasons:

    1. when I get writer's block and can't' seem to get an article started. Buying one gives me the framework and I can add on from there, rearrange, add amazon links, etc.
    2. when I don't have time to start from scratch, this gives me a jumpstart and theoretically should not take me very long to edit. That is not always the case.
Which reminds me, if you get referred to someone named Rose from outside the USA for cheap "good" content, run for the hills. On a recommendation, I bought 9 2000-word articles from her for $125. It ended up taking her 2.5 months to write them and the quality was worse than Content Daddy by far. The words Rose Art are in her email address. Just stay far away.

To sell content, I posted on the P24 forum (before I was kicked out) that I liked to write and had a little extra time if anyone wanted help. That's how I got clients. I always charge exactly DOUBLE what Content Daddy charges me. The theory behind it is: I buy it for $15, fix it up, sell it for $30, take the $15 profit and buy one for my own niche. Wash, rinse, repeat. Sometimes I get lucky and spend 10 minutes editing. Other times I spend 60 minutes. Rarely do I spend more than 60 minutes. In my mind, my content is being paid for with my time, instead of my money. So if you are starting out with low funds, this is one way to keep adding content to your own niche site.

This is not the first time I've been asked this and not the first time I've spilled the beans. I realize if I keep telling this story, pretty soon the pond will be all fished out by lowballers. But, I'm willing to share with my fellow Black Hatters.

Yeena Jojo, over at Content Daddy, usually has a turnaround time of 7-10 business days. I have yet to find anyone "affordable" that can turnaround posts any faster than that. But I'm also not paying top dollar either. She offers re-writes which I have only asked for once out of about 100+ articles. She will go back and fetch references if the writer forgets to add them (I get them on every article). And you have to post your invoice number from PayPal on her BHW thread. I think that's how she double-checks against the incoming PayPal payments?

Interestingly, one of the guys I "write" for on P24 buys the articles from me. I always share them on a google shared drive using Google docs. I used to write it up in WP and transfer both text on one page and HTML on another. I figured that way, if they wanted to keep all the formatting that I did, it would easily copy and paste into their WP admin panel. But for some reason, when I transfer from WP to Word, weird formatting issues would pop up. And nobody seemed to care about the extra step I was taking so I quit. Now I just work on Word and upload that to google drive.

But back to the interesting part, the other day I received some weird gmails that looks like someone was suggesting edits to my work. It was a name I didn't recognize. Turns out, this P24 member is paying another service to proofread and edit my stuff. I found it by looking into the details of an article that I had already uploaded for him in the shared folder. Sure enough, someone came in behind me and made a bunch of suggestions. So, naturally, I stalked that person down. Found her LinkedIn Profile, Facebook page, and Content Editing company. I emailed anonymously asking for pricing. I gave the parameters of needing help proofreading and making edit suggestions for a blog based on 4 2000-word articles each week. They quoted me $2500/mo for their service....WTF?

So this guy is paying me double what I'm charging AND paying someone else to come in after me to double-check it. Wow. Just showing you that there are clients out there that will overspend on their content. It makes me wonder if I should raise my rates, right? But, it's working for me and I've learned to stick with what works. Even if I spend 30 minutes editing, I make $15 which equates to $30 per hour. Not a king's ransom but it also isn't digging ditches AND I'm doing it during downtime or time I would otherwise be watching TV or something. Plus that 30 minutes just got me another 1500 word article for my niche.

I created a simple Excel spreadsheet to track:
Customer Name, Date Ordered, Amount Paid by customer, Who is Writing the Article, Date the Article is Due, How Much I Pay, Number of Words Requested, Date Delivered, Notes for Comments.

And I ALWAYS ask for payment upfront. On occasion first-time-buyers are skittish so I accept 50% upfront. The one time I paid for the content first, then submitted to buyer... he did pay. But then refused to pay upfront or split with me. I don't need that hassle. Pay upfront or get lost. And let's be honest, I'm not charging very much for an article that's been proofed by the original author, then by me with a college education. Don't compromise on this one guys.

Note: This whole plan does not work very well if you need articles written about specific medical niches like mine. Every writing service I have tried gets the medical terminology all wrong. I only buy content for my sites, like the kayaking site, that are general knowledge.

If this helps you, give it a Thumbs Up. Or better yet, visit my site and click some "stuff".

Hello @Big Ron , It's an interesting and a bit challenging project. I wish you luck and of course success with this new project. Can I ask something? Do you posting every day or for example 1 article per week?
    Thank you!

Yes, it's my meme page. All those pics make it slow to load. I should probably change the format but I don't know of a good plugin to display images in a carosel type model.

It is very sporadic. In general, at least once per week now. In the beginning, it was one per day almost.

The content side hustle is not fun any more :)

I'm reaching my stretching point and something has to go. I have reduced down to two clients for providing content at this point.

New stats came in on UberSuggest. Not nearly as ground-shaking

as I hoped it would be:

and technically, organic traffic has doubled the past two months:

I'm just a noob but I think it's looking good! It looks like its starting to exponentially grow.

I'm not very familiar with philosophy 24 so I was wondering if you built links to the site?

I was about to buy articles from Rose Art too. Good thing you mentioned your poor experience with her service.

She's cheap but totally not worth the wait. I told her at one point, while waiting on my 9 articles, that I had received 43 articles from my primary writer (Content Daddy) in the same time it was taking her to write 9. Didn't speed it up at all.

In fact, when she did finally give me the articles, she gave me somebody else's articles. They were written about guitars ‍♂️
