This a great read! My Format is hell of a lot more aggressive with a lot less results.
If you are referring to the Project 24 program, yes, they charge $499 for the first year of membership. $199 each additional year and that gets you live updates and forums to what they are doing. They put 75% of their content on Youtube for free though so you can get most of it there.
Sounds like it is time to experiment my friend!
Man, I hope so. I stayed up many nights after my family went to sleep working on this stuff. It's the only way to do it when you work full-time and a family. I was just telling my wife that although we made $30 in June, and we're not supposed to see any revenue until the six month (we're in the beginning of month 4 now), I will breathe a lot easier when I start seeing real organic traffic come in and I don't have to play this micky mouse social media game every day.
Like today. It's 7pm and my site has 35 pageviews. THIRTY-FIVE! WTF?! So, I just spent 15 minutes adding 35 new memes to my meme page and I'm going to hop on the Facebook groups and post a "Happy Independence Day Everyone! Enjoy 3 dozen new memes at xyz.com!" and hope for some friggin' traffic.
Another BIG TIP for me was following this guy on YouTube who calls himself Ferdy Korp. He posts "how to" videos and has a 3+ hour tutorial on how to use DIvi from Elegant Themes. Not only does he speak with a cool accent (Netherlands) but he walks you step-by-step on building your ENTIRE website. Thanks to him, my stuff looks awesome. Of course, that's my opinion.
Found another tip for driving manual traffic. Since I did a podcast interview today and collected questions from facebook groups, I know they are watching for the announcement of when the podcast is finished. So I went on and posted a teaser about how well the interview went "Great interview today and got over 70 minutes of helpful information. Should be done editing in the next few days. Newsletter members will get notified first (try to drum up more newsletter subs) but you are welcome to check my podcast page and see if it has gone live at xyz.com".
This technique and my updated meme gallery post has already taken me from 35 pageviews to 110 in two hours.
do you use divi? isnt it over-complex?
I prefer a simple theme, i'm using one called generatedpress someone here on bhw recomended. Well I did not have money to buy divi anyways! lol
I will check this guy Ferdy channel... looking for a few tips how to format my posts... I'm not doing so well in this wordpress editor Gutenberg.
It's not that complex. For me as a web developer Gutenberg is more complex than Divi or Avada. I prefer more Avada. You should check that theme and their fusion builder. It's very easy to use and I can upload for you guys here if you are interested.
The podcast idea has increased my visitors length of stay to 11% now and they are staying on my website for over an hour. Both of my podcasts are about an hour in length . There are no commercial breaks during the podcast. I still have to figure out how to monetize the podcast. For now I’m just using it to drive traffic to my site.
Is there a way to rotate banner ads based on length of time shown? Is that allowed??
Following as I'm starting a blog will follow along once I get my site design sorted out
Unusually low volume today. I'm hoping it is because it is the day after a holiday? I'm only at 137 pageviews and I released both a podcast episode and a 2000 word article. I notified all the usual groups. I would have thought that releasing two big hitters on the same day like that would net me around 1000 page views.
Long Weekend. People in the States are away from home.
I realize you are excited but you need to be patient. Keep grinding and the traffic will come.
Do you promote podcast/website heavily on social media?
Wow, I am actually going to star/ save this thread. Will have to find out how to do that on BHW, but your plan looks really good. 24 months is a long commitment, the time it would take to get a masters degree but the learning seems to compensate for the time.
I promote it the same way I do content. I"m finding that some groups, like on FB, the mods are starting to throttle me calling it "self promoting" when I post links. But I"m still doing it for the most part.
This is very inspiring interesting thread. Thank you for taking the time to share it!
I am also following the income school methodology but you have done way more than I have. My latest post is here:
Keep in mind I am way behind on the monthly posts, etc but I am progressing. I have done NO manual traffic promotion and 100% of my views are organic. While I am not making $30 a month I am increasing in traffic and have started to write again for the site.
IMO I think the time you spend promoting content would be better writing that quality content as that is long term gains, although your promotion will give some social signals and backlinks which will help with the site ranking. Of course your income now would also drop, so its a catch 22. If you are using the money coming in now to spend on more quality content than that may be the right direction for a quicker growth.
My niche is very specific and I think its too narrow but if it pays for itself I will be happy enough to leave it as a small site and start a more broader niche in the future.
Good luck with your site and keep the updates coming.
You too Paul. I"ll go check out your post.
