So, a few months ago, I was having a grand old time with Black Tar. During my Black Tar high, I went on the Keywords Tool and found out that BlackTarSideEffects.com was available.

"Black Tar Side Effects" has 27,000 exact local searches a month and CPC is $7.

When I looked at the SERPs back than, it had a lot of MNS ranking high; So, wth, I'll buy the EMD. If all else fails I thought, maybe I can flip the domain name.

But, now, Google did a good job of clearing out those MNS and putting only authority sites on the first page. Uhh ohhh.

Eh, who cares, I'm gonna try to rank for it anyways. I haz good SEO.

    Plan:
-After reading lots of stuff about Black Tar (and realize it was super bad for me) I'm gonna make a large 25+ page site about it.
-Main articles would be written by me and side articles would be outsourced to some quality, none ESL writers.
-Going to do a lot of MANUEL High PR Do Follow backlinks to the site. (1/2 white hat style, 1/2 blackhat style).
-Going to add the site to MicroSite Masters to see what's working and what's not.
-Going to make ~33% of anchors URL, ~33% generics, and ~33% phrase/exact.
-Going to do some automated stuff, haven't decided what.

Either this is gonna be a HUGE success where I'm gonna be rolling in dough or it's gonna be a huge FAIL since I might be bighting more than I can chrew.

Day negative 15: about 2 weeks ago, I made an about us, privacy, T&C, and contact page for this site as well as a two sentence blog post saying "coming soon".
Day 0: Microsite Masters says that I'm on page 6 for the exact keyword right now.
Day 0: Going to do some more keyword research to find which keywords I should target for the articles. Also gonna decide which ones I'm gonna outsource and which ones I'm gonna write myself.

Are you actually giving the keywords you're trying to focus on? If you are literally targeting 'Black Tar Side Effects' then I don't see the exact nor even global searches you see. I see pretty much zip for volume according to the Google keyword tool. I only see 1300 global and 880 local searches for 'black tar'. Maybe you're not being literal cause giving out your keyword niche would be pretty silly anyway...

... I thought EVERYONE would understand it but, yeah, my keyword isn't black tar for real. It is some other drug.

Trust me, I've seen more foolish things posted publicly... (I even had read your post like 3 times just to make sure I hadn't missed where you had said "they aren't really my keywords"... lol)

Good to hear... never mind then... ;)

    Week 1 Update:
So, Site is #22 for main keyword that gets 27k queries a month. Site is also #22 for a secondary keyword that gets 9k queries a month. Site is getting about 10 visitors a day right now.

Here was what I did over the week:
*write 15 articles so far, had the articles interlink to each other. Articles range from 500 words to 2000 words--however long it took me to get the point accross. All had at least 2 pictures, captions, etc. Think: well done articles.
*Made FB, G+, Twitter, and social pages
*Did a whois blast to the site, about 400 successful?
*Did a G+ blast to each page
*Did about 800 spammy wiki, web 2.0, SB, and whatever else backlink to each page. None of this was pinged so google has yet to find all of it. THe blast was all generics.
*Did 4 hours of manual link building on PR 4-6 pages (not domains) that were do follow. Almost all backlinks were raw url or generics. Only about 10 are actually for the main keyword.

So, right now my site is sitting a a nice bed of generic backlinks and social signal. Going to add more pages to the site as well as keep the manual link building up.

Still too early to say anything.

    Week 4:

I've been monetizing it with amazon by writing side door sales. Like, if someone searches for "black tar alternatives" I would write an article on some herb with a guide on how to snort that herb and a link on amazon to buy the herb.

Made $2 from it (I forgot to add a custom channel to the links when I created the aff links, so i don't know if any others sales were from the site).

Added AdSense to the site and looks like CPC is 1.00-.50, not crazy good but not bad either.

Been doing a lot of manual link building lately. Doing parasites as well as going threw the top 1,000 results for all of my keywords and trying to sneak a link in.

My current new love is finding a facebook page that is about this niche and dropping a link on their wall. 99% of these facebook pages are abandoned so I'm just leeching their name and traffic. Yeah!

Also been blasting the long tail keywords with comments. Like ~200/comments/day.

At this rate, site will be 100+ visitors by the end of the week it seems.
