I don't use Joomla sites much, but I'm going to start.

So I just made a website, no content or anything yet. It is in Joomla 1.7.

The first thing I did was ran out to try some themes, however all the nulled themes are scrap, so I'm just like "whatever, I'll just pay $65 and buy it". However, I'm just about to buy the theme and I noticed that Joomla 1.7 themes are hard to come by. On the site I was looking at, there was like 10 1.7 themes and like 100+ 1.5 themes.

I'm wondering, should I start my site over in 1.5? Or will Joomla 1.7 catch up soon and be the new popular one in the long run? Is Joomla 1.7 new?

Let me hear your personal opinions.

    scratch 1.7
for now just use 1.5 there is alot more there for it.
Im not officially switching till 1.8 comes out.. 1.6 and 1.7 are like windows vista and 1.8 is supposed to be like win7 if that makes any sense.

Or you could use 1.6 it is alot better than 1.5 but 1.5 is pretty solid. and has alot of shit for it nulled and not

I'm on 1.6 and have no problem finding themes plugins etc. Most of the 1.7 stuff works for 1.6 also.

go for 1.5, you have a bigger offering of templates and extensions than with 1.7

it will take about another year for 1.7 to mature and really be popular

I would also stick with with 1.5 till they release 1.8 I believe early next year...am not liking these updates that for sure! Would rather they do 1.8 as v2.0 or even 1.6...
