    weird title I know.

first I'm American, early twenties, was making money online, I'm currently not but will be again soon (hopefully) but I don't want friend/family getting mad and wondering how I'm making money to pay bills this summer without job.

    How can I do this?

Any factory type jobs where people can't easily call to see who works there? etc

Basically the job excuse is needed right now because i need a reason for turning down a part time summer job i usually do without having to tell people i get money online.

I did not really take in the part about him being over 20 at first. I have changed my mind now, what you first need to do to advance in life is grow a pair of balls. And this is real good advice.

you have a point, part of me wants to, part of me knows it's smarter to wait until I have more money, and am more secure.

I can't just pretend that me telling people I make money online isn't going to change anything when it will.

Tutoring. Tell 'em you're a freelance tutor. You could say you do it online, but it sounds way more legit to your folks than IM.

I use to do caddying at a golf club years ago and it was impossible for my parents to ever reach me. Even when I had my cell phone on they KNEW I couldn't call back. It was a club for rich folks and they'd get mad as fuck if you were doing anything other than watching their ball.

Also, I never even signed any employment papers. My brother was a member and got me in. I just spoke to the boss 1 day then my brother mentored me had me caddy for him for a month, then after that I was caddying for everyone and getting really nice tips.

So caddying would be a great lie.

With that said, I still think its best to just be honest. Or slightly change the facts and tell them you're doing web design.

you're right, i probably do need to just to stop over exaggerating about it.

However, it seems a lot of people itt are confused as to WHY i want to do something like this, it mainly has to do with coming from a less well off background. (i'm not saying all of you are well off)

i know from experience it's not a good idea to just tell people i'm making money online without some hate coming my way.

For example, when i go to my closest friends house, I can't just tell his family i'm making money online, while the dad is waking up at 3 in the morning everyday for low pay.

All it translates to is 'you're half my age living the good life, while i'm still in the struggle'

People are doing bad all around.

I think you are over thinking things. If you start to make loads of money you will get people who are happy for you, and people who will be jealous of you. People who get jealous and hate you for it, they are not worth knowing in the first place.

Bro, I respect the way you think but honestly, it's no big deal... they know there's millions of people out there in a better position that are half their age. In fact, my grandpa has worked the same job for 22 years and never taken a sick day... The other day I told him I finally not stressed out anymore cause I paid my college tuition bill, I am living with him this semester because I couldn't sign up for housing so he knows I don't work. He asked me how and I explained to him, "Well pops, some guy was brave enough to trust me and pay a ridiculous amount of money for me to make a website for him." He wasn't hurt or upset that I am making money, he is happy that I've got a good enough head on my shoulders to do what he couldn't. There will be hate, but there will also be tons of respect.

anyways, I am going on and on. good luck!

    peace & love, TFP

    Misery loves company.

When you start climbing the ladder of success, there are going to be people who will hold onto your ankles to add superfluous weight and prevent you from reaching the top, but they'll only dangle on for as long as you let them.

If they don't trust your judgement enough to let you have the experience of doing something different; to live life the way it was intended and not on the conveyor belt that they've been conditioned to live on, then the solution to your conundrum is simple: shake them off.
