For the past few years at this time I would get this inspiration to really take control of my finances and be my own boss, however every time I would get sidetracked by work and school and would not have enough time to devote towards IM. Well, school is done so this time it's serious. I've already learned a great deal in the past couple years but have always failed at executing. I've decided to do the one thing I know I can do which is write articles. I'm selling 400 word articles on Fiverr, sold 2 for a total of $8 for the day. I'm just happy to put up a number of any kind, even if it did take me 2 hours for the articles, but hey, that's 2 hours that would have been used to make $0. I feel like I could sell my services for $7 an article but fiverr allows for free exposure I don' think I could get anywhere else (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, really, feel free). I'm willing to suck it up for now.

Selling articles isn't the main plan but it is for right now. I would eventually like to start selling web design service/SEO (who isn't right?) even though I have little experience in the web design field (I watched a Lynda course on css and wordpress but I don't know how much i've retained lol). But I figure I know enough to install a themeforrest theme that suits a clients needs and can cook up some custom graphics in PS, it's just little problems that I imagine would come up that makes me kind of uncomfortable with this idea. Also worried about finding clients, there are lots of resources on this site so I'm hoping that if I utilize a wide variety of promotional tactics I could have steady stream of business.

So the plan is to eventually use my accumulated fiverr chump change to get a domain with hosting and a premium WP theme for a Web Design/SEO site that I would probably feel in over my head on, even though maybe I shouldn't as I could always outsource help during a job right? $100/day would be life changing, actually even $40/day would be life changing. Maybe that should be my first goal? Forget that, I want 3 grand a month so I can take trips to Vegas every now and then :D. $100/day here I come!

Daily Earnings: $8 - From Fiverr Article Writing

Not a very productive day. Made another Fiverr gig but didn't get any bites for either of my writing gigs. I know with Fiverr you should be selling 20 different gigs but I'm not really confident in my skill in many things (graphic design and such). Right now I'm selling articles and product reviews. Been reading a lot on the forums today and I have a lot of different things I would like to try but all of them require a bit more money than I have available to me. I'm going to sell plasma so I will at least have $55 a week coming in, I hate doing it but I need to. I'm considering getting listed on another website offering my writing services. Still would like to eventually get a web design/hosting/seo site going, that doesn't' require a huge investment so I may get the going soon.

You yourself said even $40/day would be challenging!

You should probably start with $10/day and work up from there, it would keep you motivated, instead of setting the bar so high to begin with and having to lower it later. It's discouraging :(

    Nonetheless good luck!

Alright, not a lot got done again today. Opened an account on odesk and took some tests. Pretty discouraging results for my basic English test as I got a 4.0/5 which is only the 72% percentile :( Hopefully I can do better on some of the other tests they have. I'm probably going to decide on a domain for the web design site tomorrow. Problem is going to be getting a portfolio of examples when I've never created anything and the only thing I'll be able to create will be slight alterations of premium themes. I should probably just get the actual site up and running first before I figure out how to handle the portfolio thing right? No more letting one little problem clog up my production. Maybe those slight alterations would be good enough. Demos for themes are done using an .xml file right? Maybe this wont be so hard to figure out. lol we'll see.

I think I'm going to focus my time in this area for now and stick with it. Once I get a good site I will then spend my time promoting it and hopefully gain clients. I just have to stop reading BHW and looking at all the other methods and getting side-tracked.

Good luck bro! maybe after you've accumulated enough money to launch your proposed website, you could save for some IM tools that you could use "responsibly" and sell SEO services with it. That is what i am actually going to do once i have saved some little money, as writing 4 dollar articles is a little too tiring for me.

about odesk i havent penetrated it successfully because most employers need at least 1 transaction from an applicant. Its actually a good deterrent for scammers but it also hinders us newbies. :(

btw, i like your avatar. is that from "City of God?"

Hey thanks for showing interest, the avatar is from "City of God", I've always been kind of nervous if I should be using it for this site as it is kind of violent:(

I got 2 more articles from Fiverr today, I'll probably write those tomorrow. Picked up a domain for the web design site, not entirely sold on it though. I wasn't sure if I should use some made up word (squidoo, zillow, ect.) or have "web design" in it somewhere, I wound up going with the later. After I crunch out the articles tomorrow I'm going to get my hosting and probably puchase a premium theme. lol it sounds so terrilbe that my web design company will not even have a custom designed theme for the site, but hey, this is BHW and there would be nothing BH about this if I did it legit the whole way through right? :D
