    The government finally admitted that three of the nuclear plants melted down on the first day following the quake. Instead of giving people a chance to move out from day one, they covered it up for months. The plutonium radiation issue is particularly horrible (once it's inside you, you're basically guaranteed to get cancer).

    the radiation particles from the fire are on the ground. it may be less radiation in the air

    Read a bunch of the youtube comments and people are saying it isn't at a dangerous level. Also they are saying that device isn't reliable. Another youtube user posted a link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKYWYpNS9ro (Japanese). Going to do some research myself after lunch
