dont think you can transfer within 60 days of registration period can you?
lol that sucks big time man. i use ukreg when buying uk domains., never had any probs and the support is excellent. they even answer the telephone to..
wow, thats lame. I just went through the process to transfer to 123-reg, it seemed to go ok. Just need to get uk2 to change my ips tag to 123-reg. Heres where they tell me i have to wait 60 days.
Thanks for the heads up Dan, ill keep them in mind
EDITbluerickshaw, you are right about the 60 days.
im just going to reg the .me.uk version, fuck uk2, im not giving them another penny.
UK2 are are real pain.
When I starting out I used UK2 but there menu of prices just added up and what 'FREE' to them has strings attached.
Not good for us IM types.
Also avoid 1&1 ... cancelling contracts is a pain on separate web site. They send out an email (which sometimes does NOT get sent out) then you have to click on a link to confirm cancellation... talk about jumping through hoops!
Check small print... they use automatic renewal and charge you, and send out debt collector letters. Very sneaky. They have lost all my business to Namecheap.
Whereas everyone else (including Godaddy) just cancels your domain.
Nowadays, I avoid cheap offers... no such thing as a free lunch.
I rather pay normal price with Namecheap with coupon
It all boils down to "different horses for different courses".
Yeah this sort of thing sucks and i think alot more big name domain registrars and hositng compainies as being cheeky with the advertising.
I have noticed with host gator where previously adding a domain once the transfer was set up it would point straight to my domain. last time i did this the domain forwarded to a host gator advertisment page for 24 hours, i guess to get a little extra ad money for them!
If you're going to have a lot of domains it might pay to keep all your domains with a domain registrar like name cheap, daddy etc and keep your hosting separate whether that's cpanel, blogger etc.
That way you can redirect, create addon domains, switch hosts etc without any hassles. It's also good if you want to sell domains because you can easily push them to someone else.
Separate names with a comma.
