I've been told that my site is over-optimized and that's why it's not ranking!

I've been told that my site is over-optimized and that's why it's not ranking!
My problem is that my site is indexed, but it doesn't appear for it's keywords. Apparently, backlinks are not the problem anymore. I read this article on and this guy had the same exact problem as me. He cut down his keywords and he said within the next crawl his site was ranking again.

I want to cut down on my keywords, but I don't feel that my site is over-optimized
Does this apply to meta tags, tags, and author names as well?

Whats your KW density? I keep mine around 1.5% since well, its useless these days. My keyword appears 1 time in my keywords tag, once in h1 tag, once in h2, once in h3(sometimes). Thats about it.

Whats the competition look like? Are you sure that you even CAN rank for it?

It was 2.45% for my sticky post, but I just brought it down to 0.65%

The competition is not hard because I ranked for it before as #1, but then my website disappeared from the SERPS

There's no such thing as over-optimized. Optimal is another way of saying perfect.

Think of optimization as if you were trying to drive the speed limit. If the speed limit is 70, you want to go from 50 to 60 to 65 to 69 to 70. If you're going 75, you're not driving the speed limit anymore. You've shot right past it.

That's what they're talking about. What they're saying is you can go too far, by doing what you *think* is optimizing. For example, if you overuse keywords so that your kw density is way too high - you're not optimizing anymore. If 1.5% (or whatever number you use) is optimal, 5% isn't over-optimizing. It's just way too much.

BTW, your privacy policy is not up with Adsense TOS. Get a proper ADSENSE privacy policy. Looks like your using Fake whois info too... not good.

All sorts of reasons and only google ever knows, however they dont like too many affiliates links and lots of KWs.

Ok.... poor choice of words on my part. The concept is still the same though - Idk, I think it is such a thing as over-optimizing. And using your example, it would be driving "over" the speed limit. So if I was optimizing my keyword and I went too far it still would be related to over-optimizing.

But this isn't going to help me with my ranks though. Same difference

I saw 10 threads with this ugly site, you should do more writing and SEO than opening threads.

Ranking = Backlinks and thats all there is too it. Looks like you have a whopping total of 30 links, when you filter the nofollow crap outta there.

10???? clearly you can't count. I guess you just wanted to get your post count up...figures. The threads I made all pertain to different topics and are very helpful because people with different knowledge post to them and they not only help me, but other members as well. I'm not spamming in any way...newbie. Shutup and keep it moving mofo

just put "privacy policy" in the wordpress plugin search.. you'll find one. HAS to talk about the DART cookie, and provide a link to the google TOS stuff..

    1. Semantic arguments don't get anyone anywhere, you obviously got the point (from someone else) because while I was writing the post, you posted that you lowered your kw density from the 2.5 to .65. IMO, probably a little too low, but you got the point,
    2. Look for Easy-privacy-policy WP plugin, it will create the page for you automatically.

I guess the Privacy Policy doesn't matter anymore because Adsense just disabled me again lol...I used a different site, proxy, and personal information. Oh well

Over Optimized can mean that you are actually do something which could be assimilated as keywords stuffing.

It depends upon the site you are trying to rank. If your site is well optimized, it does not mean it should rank. It depends upon the content, and many other things.
