I've been penalized for my main keyword, it had been up and down (first rank, down to page 2, first rank, down to page 2) but after several months of the dance, now my site ranks nowhere for that keyword (not even in top 1000). So I know i've been penalized. However Im still ranked 1st for the another main keyword (has been consistently doing well there). So I wonder what to do now, should I keep building backlinks or what? Can I get back my ranks and how to do that?

I'm afraid if let's say I request reconsideration I would lose my another main keyword rank which has been helping me to make some good amount of money. Any suggestion guys?

Well i didnt get that kind of message into my google webmaster tools. However, i still believe im being penalized because impossible I all of sudden lost my rank for that keyword while for the other related keywords I am still ranked 1st

Just to give you some hope...

I have a site that was on page 1 for the most part of 2009.
In November it dropped down to the dungeons.

Now it's back at page 1 after 5 months in the lower regions of the SERPS.

Well i was ranked 1st in this keyword for about 6 months before it was dropped to page 2. since mid 2009 it had been up and down (1 month page 2, 1 month first rank, and so on). After getting dropped to page 2 last month I thought i would get back to first rank this month but it didnt happen. I lost my rank to that "dungeon" since few days ago.

@M.A.D: Then what you call this? I mean impossible i would have lost my rank in that keyword if its just because of i didnt build enough backlinks or something. I cant even find it in top 1000. While, again, for the very related keywords to that one, im still ranked 1st.

I have 2 keywords that gave me a good amount of money late last year before it got penalized. Its actually the post and not the whole site.

    Effects on my site:
    - diminishing indexed pages
    - page with the main keyword on 6th pages

    What I did:

    - fresh content + outbound links to authority sites
    - continuous link building

OR you can create another site and build it again from scratch.

If you have been spamming your link with 1 or 2 anchors only, this means that you have reached a positive percantage of a spam filter.

I have had the same problem ones.

    Try using different anchors.

Hmmm...i am still ranked 1st for the related keywords and it's still the same page. I think I have to change that page wording a bit, but when you mean fresh content, you mean I have to change the whole homepage or just adding new pages? Because I of course keep adding new pages all the time

I agree with catchme, you have been slamming the same anchor text too much & tripped a spam filter. Get a whole lot of LSI variations of your keyword anchor text & build links with the different LSI variations to dilute the keyword you have been dropped for.

You are right it seems, after reviewing all of my SEO efforts, apparently i've been slamming that keyword anchor text too much. Of course from now on I will put different anchor texts but should I still building backlink to the homepage or vary it through inner pages too because tbh I have more than 90% backlinks to my homepage only, i build backlinks for inner pages too but very less compared to my homepage link building

Hey, it would be great if you can approximately quantify your "too much"... I think it's a vital piece of information to at least estimate how much is too much... I understand this factor probably varies from keyword to keyword, but could you please provide a few details as in how many links were u building and how many of them were using the same anchor?

I believe I'm not the only one interested in this, I appreciate the reply.
