Some advertising agency had called me showing interest in renting a banner space on my site, I have no idea what to charge,

    Specs:

    - they are interested in a 90 x 728 vertical side banner.
    - The site has around 35,000 page views / month , 15,000 uniqes
    - they want to advertise a clothing company, my site is really just an informational site that has nothing to do with clothes.

What should I charge, I have zero experience with this.

    thanks for any help

For 500 unique visitors a day, I wouldnt pay more than $5 a day seeing the site isnt in my niche.

But yeah, give them a high price, and compromise at a higher price than you were expecting you would actually get :D

Why don't you ask them to make an offer? See how much they are willing to pay. It may be much more than you are asking :)

I just accepted an offer of text ads on my top-right sidebar for 1 year with fees of $175. My site only receive daily unique visitors of 20-30. So I think is not a bad income for me.

Start out with a ridiculously high amount and then slowly go down from there until a reasonable amount is negotiated.

You don't to scare away the potential buyer by asking ridiculously high amount.

I've never done this but what i would do is take the expected adsense earnings from that banner spot and multiply by 2.5 then negotiate on that
