I have a ecommerce site, based around clothing, but have never really indulged in SEO, this weekend I have been reaching out to bloggers, to ask for a guest post.

the ones who get back to me are asking for around £50 - £150 for a post with a do follow link, the link will not be on the homepage for long, if at all.

these site are not that great, average PA and DA of twentysomthing and perhaps 10RD

Is this what I can expect to pay per link, or are their better opportunity's to be had?

Well most of the sites will ask for some fee, from my experience most of them don't worth what they are asking for.
Just keep outreaching and you will find blogs that will give you to post for free, however, try to filter the spammed ones.

Thanks, I don't mind paying for genuine opportunities, but not sure why they think I want to pay £100 for a single mediocre link and a few shares on an instagram with 500 followers. Out reaching sucks so far

Reach to atleast 100 sites a day, make sure your pitch is good enough, you should see some results.

    [noob question]

So I managed to strike a deal with a blogger today, for a sponsored post, their blog is DA40

I assume the feature will be on a fresh PA0 page, should I send some paid links to the sponsored page to improve the backlink?

I am not sure the webmaster will like it.
Why wont you send paid hq links to your site and keep all the juice?

You don't have to say yes to every one remember. Like said above increase the number of sites you are reaching out to and work out a price/metrics that you will go to and stick to it.
Pretty sure that some of those low metricsites will come back begging to you when you turn down their first high offer.

There are things that you can control and then there are things you really cannot control. Budgeting is your game. The sites can ask for as much as they want but that leaves you with 2 options.

Either to accept or reject and move on from there.

Out of curiosity are you contacting bloggers that allow guest posting?

Also, just because this hasn't been mentioned yet: prioritize your outreach by metrics. Contact the strongest sites first so you are maximizing your outreach efforts. Also, same niche is ideal, but if you have to drill up a level for higher authority and more opportunities, then that's fine. If your niche is basketball sneakers, basketball sites are fine, sneaker sites are fine, etc.

Because I don't want to spend a lot of time and money on a site that risks penalty, and I'm not sure which links are HQ, because everyone in the market place claims their links are HQ but in reality very few will be.
I am open to using HQ market place services but I'm probably not the best person to judge the quality of the service and if it carries risks.

yeah most of the blogs I'm finding have a "work with us" page

I am possibly finding the better metrics blogs just because I found them by googeling things like "100 top blogs *niche*"

I use Ahrefs to check out potential outreach targets (get the free trial and use the "domain comparison" tool to see what I mean) and tent to pay $25 - 45 USD for links if/when i buy them. Skype chat is your friend for negotiating with these people.

Some of you may not be aware but outreach is not as simple as it seems. While paying your way in is easy, have you folks wondered what happens after the link is live? Most of your may not bother to check in on the already live links and after a while it may become no-follow or removed from the blog altogether.

Outreach talks about relation building. Unless you have a relation with host of bloggers on a daily basis this practice is unlikely to yield any positive results for the long term.

    Just my 2 cents.

The only thing you should do is reaching out many bloggers and building strong relationships with them. It's best to go for the blogs with good domain metrics and build quality links from them.

    Amen.

People miss the point. Business is about networking and seo's suck at it.

People should be aiming to create relationships with influencers NOT paying them.

    And in case anyone has missed it google WILL be bringing the hammer down on guest posting, just check their latest blog post;
    https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2017/05/a-reminder-about-links-in-large-scale.html

I, personally, can not wait until the day google hammers all shitty sites of their index that don't understand the concept of adding value to peoples lives instead of just posting shit to make money.

I am all for earning as much money as possible BUT i also want to give as much value as i possibly can. SEO's really struggle with this concept of adding value then getting a return.

From reading all your posts you really seem to understand how to add value and in return google values your sites and then, AND ONLY THEN, will you get traffic from them.

    So props to you.

Refreshing to read your posts on threads.
