Around 6 months ago, I had my very first experience with FB ads (and FB pages in general), I was stupid and ignorant back then.

I decided to boost an image (asking for likes in it..), for about 3$, and heck it gave me 2K likes in few fucking hours. I was amazed, and continued to do so, boosting for 5$ for a week or so, generating page likes like crazy.

Time passed, I tried to do the same thing with the same page (since the audience I gathered back then was dead or something, I needed to revive the page again), and decided to do the same thing.

Absolutely, the same targeted audiences, same niche, same shit altogether. I did the boosting from the page directly (not ad manager) the first time, so I decided to do the same.

To my surprise, now ads seem to be... so... fucking... slow to deliver.

Now, the same 3$ gives nothing but at max 30 likes. Why? What the heck happened? I admit, I didn't even know about the existent of ads manager (lol), so I have no way to remember the default optimisation settings.

Just what happened? I tried after that with variety of pages, posts (images, links, etc.) same thing, so damn slow and it's not reaching the same potential.

Can anyone shed some light on this? What happened during those months?

TL;DR: few months ago, a boosted post (image in my case) gathered 2K likes with ~3$ budget. Now, same settings, a boosted post (again, image) gathered around 30 likes or so with the same budget.

Just to note, you've probably guessed it by now, the default currency isn't USD, but I made sure to set the same budget taking into account the different currency exchange rates then and now.

If you are boosting the posts to the same demographic all the time in a certain area you have to remember that if you have a 100 people that it is shown to maybe 20 might like it. Now over time the 20 that like your page are the best you might(The other 80 might not be bothered about what you are showing) get and that is why you may not see growth. I know because we do this with our carpet cleaning business. We do get extra likes slowly now but a lot of work so its ok. Maybe change your target audience up a bit. Also, try to get more engagement on your posts. But I am sure you already know that some of hour posts get a reach of 20 000 and then some because of massive engagement over 30 000 for the same budget.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Sorry to hear that op allow me to share my story of FB ads

I did 2 ad posts about 6 months ago, technology niche, and a niche within a niche at that.

Tried targetting the audience as much I could so it would only show up to those who had an interest expressed an interest whatever.

Lets say for instance my page was about C++ programming (it wasnt) but I put in C++ programming as the audience must like this.

I got likes yeah but from people who had obviously never heard of C++ or my niche judging by the rest of their profile.

    Is FB dying for advertisement?

I see, this defiantly make sense. The thing is I was "away" from the targeted audiences more than 4 months or so, so you could say I gave them enough time to let away from their boredom.

Also, I tried to make the same psychological feeling of the previously boosted images. I doubt this is the reason, since I wanted to recreate the settings of the past so badly.

The thing is, even with newly targeted audiences it's the same thing, and I have no idea why. FB hunger for money is unbelievable.

It really seems so. Well, as the saying goes... saying is believing, but feeling is the truth. I was there, I'm 100% sure the delivery was faster and way more beneficial, why it turned like that? I'm surprised really (well, deep down, I can fathom it).

    I think facebook is lookin
I think you are right about the money hungry thing. What I have also noticed as well was if you have boosted in the past and the account is not used for a while even a few weeks, that this sort of thing happens. As soon as you boost regularly the delivery of ads seem to pick up. To me it seems they "reward" you the more you advertise. Not a fair system at all!

I agree with you, the numbers are fucked up a bit lately and the cost has skyrocketed to be honest but I am still seeing some good results and other people's success.
For example, last month I targeted a product ad for my country and the results were pretty cool to be honest. Over 100k reach, 1k+ page likes and amazing engagement for $20 ad spend. Along with that, a few hundred website registrations, I was so damn satisfied with the results.

What I have to say and hope you understand my preaching here to the best is:

    Please do your homework...

When launching your product, website and content overall, please do your HOMEWORK and research your audience to the max. Do whatever it needs, research the demographics, read case studies, speak to people and especially your target audience. Find someone interested in what you're looking to advertise and reach out to them, ask them questions. If you don't do your homework and follow luck with Facebook Ads, I'm sorry to break it to you but your campaign will not be that successful. Sometimes a 10,000 overall audience is better than 100,000 and will yield more results.

Do your homework... Good luck and I hope you all make it!

Yeah probably. You need X posts to private message. I don't know but I think it's 20 or 30? Not sure.

I heard your ad must mature, keep it running for at least 5 days (limit your budget to a few bucks per day), then your ad will start working more effectively. I heard it from Ben Adkins. No one knows why it works this way.

There are a few factors at play, and Facebook is updating their scripts all the time, but I think what you are experiencing is what the Google crowd experienced a few years ago. A few people got in early and saw huge success and cheap clicks, and then the marketers sold their courses, and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Since Facebook ads are based on bids per keywords, and since those bids are going up because of the huge influx of marketers lately, your $3 doesn't go as far as it used to. First, don't use the "Boost Page" option. Go with one of the Post Engagement options in the FB ads area. Then, make sure your audience is ultra targeted. Don't choose everyone in America to show your funny cat ad to. Choose people with interests in cats. Stack interests (people who love cats, and live in NJ, and eat peanut butter) if you have a Cat treat that tastes like peanut butter and is made in NJ, etc.

Facebook isn't for noobs. If you're a noob you're gonna get raped. Like OP just did. I probably had to spend 50gs before I knew what I was doing on FB.
