i think .com .net will get some weight for google, otherwise you will see all the top site now are .club .tips

.com .net domain also easier to remember for the visitor.

Google don't care what is your domain TLD but what is your website about and how good it is (User Friendly).

We have seen .io websites rank higher than competitors under .com :)

What you should look on is memoriable domain.

unless you are really trying to build a big brand, the extension does not really matters in terms of seo.

Only country-specific domains have slight advantage in SERPs in the relevant countries, but otherwise .com is usually the best to go for, as that's the TLD people are most comfortable with.

When choosing domain extension you have to consider some factors like your location (.co.au) and industry (.edu for schools). Be sure that your domain name represents what your website is all about and you won't have to worry about your SEO ranking.

People (95+% of them at least) give no fuck about your TLD, they do not know what is a domain name, needless to say about TLDs.
    Lol what?
TLD impact for SERP may be discussed (though most here think it makes no difference) but care to tell me how a .com domain can boost your conversion or number of sales?
    hint: no way!

Com domain will make people believe your site.

    Suppose

    bakso.com

    It would be better than
    bakso1234555.blogspot.com

Better choose com/net for your site, though many people claimed rank .shop .club etc TLDs with no problem at all, though if possible, long term going with com.

Your example isn't valid, though I don't think many people will notice any difference between options you provided, of which fewer will bakso.com and, let's say, bakso.me.

That´s why you use "marketings.top" and not "marketings.com" yourself? Would it then not be smarter to choose a domain with another name if "marketings.com" is taken, or to expensive to buy maybe, in your thoughts.

And that data comes from where? Your imagination?

All your mentioned 95% of people think that the Internet consists of Google, Youtube, Facebook and some .com domains - that's it.

You are not trying to say that a ".bollocks" domain would look more legitimate to a random user compared to a normal ".com", are you? People are used to .com domains and that's a fact, so anything apart from that (excluding country-specific TLDs) looks a bit unusual and often raises uncertainty in credibility, etc.

Basically yes, but in fact it comes from what I hear/read every day and my experience as a tech support staff member.

    Exactly.

All I state is it makes no difference for them if it is .com or ..bollocks, they won't notice it.

Yes those who do IM or advanced users are. And again they are ~5% out of all users, the number may not be accurate, that's just to give you an idea.
Let me go by example. You can create two pages, one with divs and using modern CSS and another with tables, just 90's style. Yes the first approach is better, but for end user it does make zero difference if it is using tables, divs, jQuiry or bares the content from Mars. Though 1 out of 100 visitors will view your source code and say how retarded is using tables in 2017 and shit like that.

Totally agree with you re web design example, however you are slightly missing the point because users can see the domains before they actually visit them or even when they are on the page already, they can see your address in the URL bar - no need to dig for a source code or be a pro-level programmer to realize that.

I guess I'm coming from a point of view that 99% of all major established brands are .com's, so it makes sense to try to get a decent .com if you want to make yourself look serious as well.

Ok I think most IMers or brand owners when it comes down to their domain shall choose .com, but it doesn't have that impact for users. Trust me they rarely look into address bar even when entering their bank login details. You're talking from the point of view of IMer or brand owner.

Google claims it makes ZERO difference but real humans prefer .com when choosing to click something in the SERPS. And if nobody ever clicks your result then it will suffer and sink. So for branding and getting people to click I prefer .com all day long.

The fact that 99% of all major established brands are .com's, may be because there was not any new tld´s available when they registred their domain and that the new tld´s are not yet as established as the .com. I think that there is in some situations were a new tld is almost as trustable like for example a domain like mariospizza.com vs. marios.pizza, i´d rather go for the marios.pizza domain because it is brandable also.

But that's just my 2 cents on the topic .. What would I know .. =)
