Do you think they will be penalizing now for using expired content? That's why they might be crawling outdated sites.

I've noticed medical/health sites that were hit hard in June have popped back up most their lost keywords to where they left off.

Mobile is the main focus right now, GMBs had a large spike on Sept 25 and steadily rising. I even see a new "related search" widget on G images after you scroll down a little bit.

Interesting thought. I don't know. All I know is they went after old index for this crawl. Maybe they're rolling back some recent changes.

I still see lots of movements, but it became less. Also it seems rankings are slowly going back to their original positions.

So it seems like it's over according to https://www.semrush.com/sensor/. It's sad to see how google has changed. Nearly impossible to rank if you don't do blackhat or if you're not giant like Amazon.

Welcome to reality and you’re in luck because you’re at BHW so learn the tactics here. I’m seeing health niche as effected more than any other niche any thoughts on this?

Well, big boys are just smashing everyone, not about the tactic. I've been reading BHW since 2013. And black hat still works, they're still seen among the first places.

Decreased traffic (back to June levels). Most of my tech sites (English and Spanish) are down to competitors with less metrics (some even single page, I don't see any redirects).
Thinking about adding @dsen-se to test some theories about those sites getting a positive jump.
Back to the lab i guess.

Lost traffic doesn't appear to be dependent on device: -23% desktop, -25% mobile, and -26% tablet. KW rank fell site wide, except for brand name.

    Edit: Manufacturing niche

Can you elaborate please? Do you think this update had to do with backlinks?

Definitely, a big part has to do with backlinks.

Sites with a non-relevant 301S, and sites with fully relevant 301S,

Relevant 301s went up 30% in traffic, while the non-relevant 301s went 30% down traffic.

They are totally different niches and the cleansiness of the sites is the absolute same.

Only main difference other than niche is the 301's relevancy.

Half of the crypto sites got serious hit from June update (200k traffic down to 2-3k) and now are getting back. And I am talking big legit websites, no 301s or shady link/content. It seems that Google messed up hard back in the June and now repaired the damage.

This is my 2 cents on this update.

My main site got hit and lost around 40% of the traffic.

The website is an Authority Site and has multiple no 1 rankings and is in first page for KWs with 10-20K search volume. The site has natural links from various news and authority sites. I was consistently adding content to the website for last 2-3 months, all original quality content both buyer kw as well as informational keywords.

What I was not doing was linkbuidling as the website was generating good links slowly but steadily. The website is still ranking for all no 1 positions which it held before the update, but the traffic is down as long tail keyword rankings have gone down.

In my case this update hit sites badly who were relying only on quality content as strategy. I see general sites which have no topical authority leaping over sites which are focused on one broad niche based on their overall authority.

    Key takeaways:

    Linkbuilding is still King
Make one broad site instead of focusing on a niche

PS: My website has 160K published words with per post count range 500-9000.
