It's Google's Broad Core Algo Update for Sept 2019

Wondering how long this update is going to last. Its been more than a week since I constantly see changes in the serps. Even now its mayhem as described before. I could literally refresh my Rank tracker every 10 minutes and would get 50 alerts.

Here are some of my "results" and observations. Almost all keywords of my websites are in a HEAVY Google Dance. They disappear, they come back, disappear again, going to #50 then to #3 then to #10 etc. the last week it started shaking a bit, but the last three days have been crazy.

Now this is the most ridiculous: They decided to put my website from #1 to #4 and guess who is ranking 1-3? YouTube. Wtf is this algorithm about? They rank youtube videos!

for your primary keyword, where you are not battling with youtube and seeing movement, how is your onsite keyword density? my gut feeling tells me over the last few months google is giving more score to onsite and penalizing sites that are a bit over-optimized. this has always been the case, although I am saying that google has turned up the volume on this over the last few months. thoughts?

Seeing the first significant movements on several sites this morning. It's rolling out slowly.

Can you provide more details what exactly are you seeing is it positive, negative?. Any changes we need to make to get positive results from google, also which niches are being hit. When do you think we all will be able to see it’s impact.

First of all, I rely solely on G traffic and I'm heavily grey-hat. However, I'm experiencing something unpleasant which I don't know if it's related with the update:

For 6 days and counting I have 0 sales from new customers. Before that I would make 2-3 sales every day. Traffic dropped during these 6 days from 500 daily visitors to 300 but it's now climbing again to 400. I think a possible reason for the drop of sales is that I don't rank well now for long-term (buyer?) keywords as for big keywords my positions are the same.

I don't know if it's luck or G f me up :(

Sidenote - changed the SEO plugin on the site 10 days ago from Yoast to RankMath. Don't know if it's related to that but I reversed the change this morning to see what will happen in the next 2 weeks.

Prior update you made some changes, now you don't understand the reason behind the traffic drop. Wha is your niche? Just give some time. Install hotjar.com/ type script in your website observe the actions, there are so many related apps like hotjar.com which offers free trial for few days. Use them to identify the issue in the website if any. Trust me with the help of these kind of apps we improved 40% convertion and lead ratio when compared to previously. Its a visual customer experience app.

It's definetely unlucky coincidence to make the change just before the update. I will just wait as you said and see.

I know about this software but I was reluctant of trying it as I don't know what conclusions to draw, what to notice. Any directions you can give me? In private if you want so we don't distort the topic here.

i dont even try to make any sense from these changes, because its beyond any logic. I have websites for specific niches, which were ranking well for these niches. Now they are on page 2 or 3 and the first page is full of spam. Keyword stuffed authority pages, yt videos etc. its ridiculous. In my opinion the search engine is broken now. I can only hope the results will go back to normal.

The funny/sad part is google doing the opposite from what they preach. Now they rank useless shit and moving my helpful content to page 2/3. Lol. Really wondering what these guys in Silicon Valley did.

I've let the dust settle a little bit over the weekend and all 4 of my websites have seen a spike in visibility and most keywords have seen an increase. All sites are in the health niche and I've seen big movements across the whole industry. I've got a strong feeling this is update is YMYL related.

2 of them were hit majorly in June, one lost 60% of it's organic traffic – but since then I have made structural changes to both sites, replaced outdated content with new stats.

If I can spot anymore similar trends then I'll sure to be post them in here.

i noticed it on the fresh site (content 4 months old). main kw's are on more or less same positions, but longtail ones are dropping
on the established sites i am seeing improvement, one stagnating since June site is facing a huge boost

This is exactly what I am seeing.

My targeted keywords are ranking higher but my long tail traffic has plummeted. It has come back slightly today and this might be the dance on some long tails. At the same time I have seen my income from affiliates/ads actually improve so the traffic I lost wasn't my main revenue generators.

I was initially annoyed. But not quite so much anymore when I realized it had not really affected my earnings and I can see more opportunities in this now as the long tails can be targeted (if they make sense for my site) and I'll likely rank higher for them if I write some good but short content targetting them.

Again Google is improving priority for contents.
That's not what I'm seeing at all. Aged websites with lots of links are the main winners as far as I can see. I'm being beaten in the serps by an article published in 2016 with 500 words of content on a powerful domain. I held that top stop for all of this year with an article that was much better, more in-depth and was better written. This update pushed me into the number 4 position.

same happened to me rank went down 2nd to 16th. nothing blackhat had enough great content. as it's non wp i can't anything about kw stuffing on my page. but page gave what users expected. i tried everything i can and optimized every small thing last days to come back to at least 1st page. but not even moves single rank. supper spam pages came up and staying on ranks. i can agree with you. G came stupid or whatever.

I think the update is now settling off, saw less ranking fluctuations today

Most of my sites tanked 20-25% in clicks, but searches went up sometimes by 30-40%.

Search results: 2-3 ads first, than 1-2 youtube videos, that 4-5 questions what other people are asking and only after that 'normal results' come - it is more like update about data displaying and not about the 'algo core' update...
