I have seen some keywords bouncing back up but for a different inner page this time. Has anybody experienced the same? May be this Penguin 2.1 is not just about penalising sites. I feel it's more about ranking a more relevant page. Can there be a big co-relation between the hummingbird update and Penguin 2.1 since they were launched back-to-back? Oh well, it's still too early to come to a conclusion.

I have written a blog post on my initial findings. I will be looking forward to have some further inputs. Let's crack the code guys.

I've had this happen with all algo. updates that penalize my sites (even way before the animals.) I've only gotten one site to fully recover and that was way before the animal updates. It was a 5 year old branded company site, so when the penalty hit we stuck with it. Inner pages would rank as high as low page 2 for the homepage's keywords. Since Penguin 1.0 I've not gotten a site to recover fully. I've diversified anchor text to the homepage enough to where it would show for the keywords instead of an inner page, BUT never could hold on to a page 1 listing. I'm not sure about Penguin 2.1, but with the previous iterations I've tried linking to the ranking inner pages and that made the sites drop FAST.

Thanks for that info. I feel its better not to do any work on the hit sites. Just let it settle.
