I was just wondering if anyone would be able to answer my question. I've seen various low priced items from Hong Kong that are cheaper then the ones that I can get on eBay UK. Are these items actually legitimate? People selling such items are usually power sellers with high feedback. I was thinking of buying some things from Hong Kong rather than the UK as price differences can be quite high on selected items though I'm not sure if they are actually legitimate.

Alot of times they can be knockoffs but not always. Its always a risk but for some items its not a difference.

If the feedback is high it must be ok. It depends on what you are buying. I once got RAM memory from there - it was fine

As an eBay US user, I can tell you it's fine if their FB is okay. However, the shipping takes so long sometimes and their service is so pitiful, it often isn't worth the money saved. Just depends on the difference. For really cheap items I'll often choose to have the search results display 'US Sellers Only' and avoid dealing with long shipping delays from overseas. They ship the CHEAPEST way possible which is how they are still able to make a profit.

I bought many things from HK.
I never buy brands or anything like that in auction sites so that is not an issue for me.
If you look for brands from HK then forget it. It is all fake. (Do you really care?).

I have had 1 fault out of 30-40 items I bought. It is part of business.

Items are OK. Buy from a reputable 6+ months old dealer.

Thanks for all your reply's. I'm generally talking about computer electronics and console lasers. Anyone know anything about genuine console lasers?

I strongly advice against that. Branded electronics is faked over and over on Ebay. If you find something very cheap.. Get one and see how it works.
But please never buy in bulk from a single provider..

Just look at this - hxxp://cgi.ebay.com/Flash-Fix-Fake-Kingston-128GB-Drive-xD-SD-Card-/110607518607?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c0b8cb8f
    >> They even sell patches for damaged goods (electronics)..

[ I think you better backup your data with something you bought locally :) ]

I buy many things from Ebay (And many friends as-well).. Speaking from experience; some of it wasn't peasant.

    GL.

Edit - Check dealextreme.com also. I cannot recommend it because I never used it, but I have 2 buddies who buy anything there..

And whats funny is, some don't even pay for shipping. They have family members that work at local China Post and HK Postal Offices that ship the items for free. Either way, it doesn't cost much. Last I check I was able to send something out for $10 per kilogram via Airmail that took me about 5 business days to get from China customs to a U.S. door through USPS.

I bought some ipods from a guy in HK.
The quality was very bad, all my customers requested refunds.
So I suggest you test the merchandise first, before you start listing :)

Many items from Uk could be lower quality than Hong Kong ones, it's all relative.

It really depends what you're buying... most stuff come from China both (authentic + knockoffs). Alot of the UK / US sellers might actually be getting their stuff from the hk seller.

Most items that ship from Hong Kong are fake and cheap and won't satisfy your needs.

Hong Kong is light years ahead of the UK, both in business and their produce. Where do you think crap in the UK is made anyway? London? Nope. Just because it doesn't have a Harrods sticker on it, doesn't make it fake or crap.

Just like anywhere in the world, you're gonna get shit from certain people. Do some research, buy a sample and see what they're like. Then make your decision. Don't take generalised comments like "everything from Hong Kong, China and Asia in general is fake". Look at the labels on your clothes....made in S.Korea, Taiwan, India, China. But you bought it in the UK so paying £40 for a T-shirt means it's 'real', but it cost the company £0.01 to make.

    Sample + decide = profit.

Most are what are called OEM's. They are manufactured with the same parts, however are not completely genuine.
