Hi, I just moved to Europe and I’m thinking about doing Google Maps review services

I have a few questions
  • Is this kind of work legal here?
  • Do I need to pay taxes on it? What does this service call as?
  • How do people usually get paid for doing this?

Would very appreciate any advice from people with experience. Thanks!

Yeah, it's legal in most of Europe as long as you're not posting fake or spammy reviews. If you're doing legit feedback based on real experiences, you’re good. For taxes—yes, technically it's income, so you may need to declare it depending on your country’s threshold. It usually falls under "freelance digital services" or "online marketing.

Most people get paid via PayPal, crypto, or even gift cards depending on the client. Just make sure you're working with someone trustworthy. Good luck and stay under the radar if you're pushing the gray lines!

Thank you very much.
But it’s not legit review , I am doing clone google account

To be clear:
I would use multiple Google clone accounts to write reviews for businesses.
I’m just trying to understand the risks before doing anything.

Thanks

You can't Mention Reviews Service on Invoice

As per My experience

Is it a serious question?
I got the same vibe, something is off here.

EDIT: I think the OP is legit but just asked a really dumb question.

You want to run a business, but you're not sure if you need to pay taxes? You need to pay taxes in Europe.

I don't think its legal anywhere because no platform would want someone to game their system by getting fake or sponsored reviews.

And for tax, you can show that you are providing the ORM services.

In Europe, it is legal to review on Google Maps; however, if you get paid for doing so, it is regarded as gig or freelance work. You might have to pay taxes and register as a self-employed person. The terms "digital marketing" and "content contribution" are frequently used to describe it. PayPal, bank transfers, or freelance platforms are typically used for payments.

Welcome to Europe. Despite of being called the European Union, you will soon discover that each country enforces their own laws, there is no real common ground regarding this topic. So you must make your own dilligence to see if the country you are living now has some enforcement against this topic. Although generally no one prosecutes the creator of fake reviews but the one who demands. It's easier to prosecute a registered company than a random botter in Russia.

Theres so many that does this... good luck

Yes, it's legal if reviews are honest; it's considered freelance/digital marketing, and you must pay taxes if earning income—payment usually comes via direct contracts, not from Google.

To operate responsibly, you should focus on encouraging honest and voluntary customer feedback without trying to influence or bias the reviews. Transparency with both businesses and customers about how reviews are collected and used is also essential.
