Spent part of the day rearranging furniture in the living room with the girlfriend and we had to move the cable modem and router around a bit. After that task was complete I jumped on the computer to check e-mail and pretty much get started with my day and it wouldn't connect.

So I spent about an hour and a half playing with settings rebooting, resetting, restarting and unplugging and plugging cables back in. After I'm 100% positive there's nothing I can do to fix it myself I give my ISP a call and get to talk to a robot lady for 30 minutes doing all that shit over again, it probably only would have taken 20 minutes but I hung up out of frusteration of not being able to figure out how to talk to a human.

Finally after I go through all the retarded robot lady stuff it says there's nothing else it can help me with so I get to talk to a human. The dude tells me that my internet account has been suspended for commenting on a blog

    The comment

    "You're such a fucking deuchebag"

I mean if I was an ISP and had someone call and report that I would either tell them, "you're really calling to report that? You really are a douchebag" or just say alright we'll get on that and just not do anything.

God I want to switch my ISP so bad now but they're by far the best one in the area.

What an idiot. Unbelievable that he would even bother to phone your ISP. (Crazy they suspended you for it too!)

I'd be inclined to spam his site from a load of free proxies.

The only obscenity on his comment was that he didn't spell douche-bag correctly.

Yes comments like that add nothing to either party, but the way I see it, the OP wasted a few seconds of his life making the comment and the offended party wasted a few minutes of his life reporting him. They're even IMO.

And now... go on and get yourself a bunch of proxies and spam the hell out of his site.

If I curse on the internets, I lose my connection for 3 hours...

If I course on a random street in the States, would that mean I will lose my citizenship for like 3 hours?

Where do I go in that 3 hours?

I would complain to ISP management. I mean they probably have people viewing illegal websites but they suspend you for blog commenting. Whether it's in their terms of service that they can do that or not, it's just not acceptable.

If you have the money, just buy a business account from another provider. That will probably be as good or better for one person.

    1. Write up a blog post about your totally unfair* experience with your isp
    2. submit to digg/reddit
    3. Let the hivemind work its magic
    4. ?????
    5. Profit and/or revel in owning them

You should have told your isp right then and there that you want to discontinue your service. Ridiculous.

Some of these comments make me laugh my ass off. And yes, I did say ass in this forum. If someone takes offense to that then spam your local police department and xrummer your local government. :)

Just let us know the blog address. I am sure few of us just happy to reallocate a bit of capacity to make that blog a garbage site.

Actually, it is. Hate speech is, too. :)

Putting people in dangerous situations (yelling "fire!" in a crowded theatre), inciting violence ("hey, let's go kill those *insert race*"), and libel/slander are not protected.

ISPs can obviously enforce their own rules, though.
