Doing SEO for a friend and his business has a lot of errors and inconsistencies in its citations on the top 50 local directory sites. A lot of them have an old phone number, have a different name (for example same say "Inc." at the end and some don't. We want all of our citations to be exactly the same. The problem is, he doesn't have the user name and passwords and doesn't know who submitted these citations so I can't manually go in and change this info.

It seems the only service that can do this is Yext. Apparently they are partnered with all of these local directory companies and can get access to these listings, go in and fix all the inconsistencies for you. At this point, I don't see any other choice. Should we do it?

Just email the webmasters of each domain and ask them to update your listing...

Naturally, send an email using the companies domain name in it and have proof of company ownership ready from your client.

    Mqs1000,

In my opinion Yext or other related services are worth the cost to avoid the tedious work and roadblocks of updating those listings.

Also, you can always cancel later on after all the listings have been updated.

    Best,

    Shawn
