I thought about trying to create a Google adwords campaign for my Local SEO business and I was wondering if it would be worth it. I haven't done too much with adwords so I don't know how marketing a service that is targeted for business owners would work with adwords.

It would work but advertising a "local SEO Service" simply doesn't make any sense. Why not SEO your own site and rank it on top instead of advertising it on Adwords?

Absolutely you can use it for your promotion.
If its local then adwords has a really deep targeting tools.
You can target only your own city.
Start with some small budget and scale up accordingly.

I am ranked for Local SEO service in my area, but I am just curious as to if someone has tried it for specifically Local SEO in there area and how well it worked before I put money into doing it.

I never ran a campaign to sell my SEO service, but it must work as like promoting any other product/business/service. The key to getting higher conversions is to design a well put landing page. Each and every word and graphics on your LP counts, so you shall consider about hiring someone in the marketplace to write the sales copy for you. Make it short, simple, clear and unique.

The only way to find out is to actually try it. I went through dozens of campaigns, which turned out to be successful, while the logic said they shouldn't be.

You absolutely should! Do a quick search of local SEO companies in your area. You'll most likely find multiple PPC listings on the SERP. You are providing a service, just like any other b2b service, that requires marketing. Many people assume that if your rank #1 organically, paid search isn't necessary. People also assume that you shouldn't need to bid on your brand terms. Neither are true! Your goal should be page domination by appearing both organically and through PPC. You should bid on your brand terms because if you don't, your competitors most likely will. Likewise, you should also bid on your competitors terms for a conquesting strategy. PM me if you'd like additional suggestions.

I'm going to go with FBGuru on this one. Besides, your SEO website appearing in the SERPs because of your SEO efforts will impress your prospects more than you having a high ad position in Adwords (although this might impress a prospect looking for PPC services).

Most people/businesses don't know the difference, so it's all about the sales. Sell that shiz. If they happen to ask why you aren't ranking for those particular terms in the organic rankings and you don't have a good rebuttal, you should probably hang up. Or, you could tell them "Have you ever seen a carpenters house." Don't go into some stupid shit about how you don't rank because the moon didn't line up with the sun that day. Clients don't give shits. They just want to know that you do SEO, you'll pick up the phone when they call, and you have a pulse.

The trick with AdWords is not the set up but to also analyze the results and know how to use your data to optimize the campaign and adjust the spent for an always positive ROI.

I think there are a few services on BHW for PPC management, one of which is mine (most likely the best hehe)
