Is tiered link building still working effectively? And what are the best sites to use as Tier 1?

I'm working on some client sites and building a variety of links, Niche Edits, Guest Posts, PBNs etc.

I'm aware of how Tiered link building works, just want to hear from people doing this in 2024 and getting noticeable improvements in rankings from it.

I'm pointing my decent Niche Edits and Guest Posts at the homepage, but now thinking it would be a bit 'safer' to point the less natural looking PBNs to a Tier 1 of some kind.

For those who are doing this successfully, main questions are:

1. What is the best type of Tier 1 site that you use?

2. Is it effective to build general PBN links to your Tier 1? (e.g. a pack of 5-10 links for $50-$100)

3. If you have a good Tier 1, is it better to keep building more and more links to it over time, or spread your Tier 2 links out more diluted to a few different Tier 1s.

---

If you're doing this and getting results, I would love to know what's working.

Thanks

High quality Niche relevant sites with good Authority and Organic Traffic resembling natural link building activity.

Building general PBNs is a good idea this shows your link building natural in Google eyes also for this cost you can get the best quality of Niche PBN links itself.

expanding your Tier 2 links to different Tier 1 links will be a good strategy you will have the benefits of link diversification, rank for different keywords, diversify audience, etc...,

You want real websites and social networks/assets built as tier 1s. Also, guest posts & niche edits that are relevant to your niche do just as well.

2. Is it effective to build general PBN links to your Tier 1? (e.g. a pack of 5-10 links for $50-$100)

Yes and no. It depends on the quality of the PBN links you're getting, if that PBN has been compromised, etc. @tiiberius has a few threads on this.

3. If you have a good Tier 1, is it better to keep building more and more links to it over time, or spread your Tier 2 links out more diluted to a few different Tier 1s.

Spread your links. You want a diverse backlink profile spread out throughout the tiers. That's what makes tiered link building effective. Diverse link profile + tiered link juice.
