    hi guys,

I found a long tail key phrase in the credit card niche, it has:

search count exact: 4,400 per month
competing pages on Google (phrase match): 18,200

Is this too many competing pages, in your experience?

There are no ezinearticles for this phrase.

My main concern is because the credit card niche is difficult to get a foothold in, is it worth writing an ezinearticle and directing to a credit card cpa offer via a .info domain?

I really appreciate your help guys!

How many of the top results for your keyword (in quotes) are authority sites? Have you run them though SEO elite to see how many keyword anchored backlinks they have for your keyword?

Short answer: No, it's not too many pages. Good luck. You'll need some quality software in order to compete.

    hey sen0lis,

thanks for the fast reply. What figure would you say is the cut-off point when you say too many competing pages?

    Thanks!

It depends a lot on quality of your page, content, how long page has been online and loads of other factors.

So there is no fixed number. If you have state of the art website, even 20 million competing pages is not too much (However, a number that big means the niche is probably full).

If you know what you're doing, you'll be on top of google from those 18k pages soon enough.

Yep. you can do it pretty easily. just drop your link on eza or goarticle (which allow affiliate links, eza doesn't) and build backlinks for that article.

you'll get what you want, be confident.

so, simple article marketing to a .info domain that redirects to an affiliate offer won't cut it?

Is this a good strategy for other niches where there is say 5000 competing pages for that phrase etc? Is 5000 still too many?

I'm just trying to work out a plan for this type of marketing (finding a long tail term with good monthly searches and not too many competing pages so I can article market to cpa or clickbank offers).

    hi businessbira,

do you think it's a good strategy to just have a .info redirect to a cpa? Or is this a short sighted plan?

so, if I just submit articles to different directories, and each article targeting a variation of my keyphrase, this is achievable?

    Any other strategies to consider?

I think you have find a good keyword phrase... You should be looking at all keywords that has less then 70`000 competition. That's what I'm using...

Exactly!! I keep trying to advise people of this too! Its not so much about how many websites are competing for your keyphrase more which are the top 3 websites and what is their link savvy...

It may be a niche longtail phrase but if there are 3 authority credit card sites sitting at the top (as your long tail most prob contains an extremly tough keyword) then their is no point in targeting that phrase.
