I have been looking into starting a project involving starting an amazon affiliate site. I found a niche that pretty much has no competition but only has 2300 searches a month?? You people who have worked with amazon, or have looked into it, would this be worth building a big site for? Or would you find something with higher search volume??

It's ok for a MNS, you won't get rich with it but you'll learn a couple of things for sure.

It depends on the profit margins on the items. Well I guess more the price of the item since you get a set percentage from amazon. If you are make $2 a sale then maybe not but if you are making $50 a sale then you can do well on low volume.

Yea I was thinking the same, but is there a way to tell how much commision you make before promoting the item and trying to sell it? Trying to see the margins to help decide.

A big site for a main keyword of only 2300 searches per month? Unless there are dozens and dozens of related keyword phrases having about the same traffic value, I wouldn't do it. A small site? maybe.

For a big site I think you would want a niche broad enough to include 50 to 100 long-tail keyword phrases where each has a traffic value of between 500 - 10,000 searches per month. Include a lot of photos, title and alt them, and you'll get clicks from the sheer number of queries your keywords and keyword-stuffed pics will generate even before you do any link building.

Yes why not. What's your profit margin like?
