Is this website ranking just based on its domain name? Or fake searches?

So I see this website is ranking for 9 keywords totalling over 2k searches, its main keyword being 1,6k searches and 34% difficulty as per semrush. Ubersuggest says 1900 searches and 51 seo difficulty.

The problem is, the domain has 0 authority and all of its ~300 backlinks are trashy nofollow links. The only thing is, its domain name is the exact match of the keyword. Can it be that the site is ranking just based on that? I mean, the site is down and as far as I can tell, it has only ever had a ''coming soon'' landing page.

Can the monthly searches be faked? Are the ubersuggest and semrush stats fake? Cause it's a good CPC business keyword.

I don't know if the EMD is the ONLY reason for its rankings, but I do know that EMDs have started getting a boost by google lately because I had an EMD for 2.5 years, which I sold 3 months ago and about 2 months before selling it had started getting clicks and impressions out of the blue sky without me doing anything about it (I had that domain dormant for almost an year prior to the boost).

So yeah, the EMD could rank on its own, I'm definitely not dismissing this possibility. I find it hard to believe that it's ranking for such a good keyword on the EMD particularity alone, though. I think something else is at work here, either some hidden PBNs, or maybe a history of trust with google, I don't know until I check the domain in detail, but something else definitely helps it

it will be pointless as I don't have access to SEO tools anymore so I can't check it
