I own a few 100k+ pages on Facebook. On one of my pages, I've received the following messages 4 times over the past 2 days. The message reads
"Hey ***Name of My Page***, I think this content is my intellectual property, and it can't be used without my permission. Could you please message me back about this or take it down?"

All 4 messages were exactly the same and each of them were regarding different videos/link posts shared on my page and were sent from different FB accounts all of which seemed to belong to senior citizens (looks like 60+ years old judging from the profile pictures). The FB profiles look legitimate with real friends and interaction.

I wonder if these accounts are hacked. I can't figure out why someone would send such messages to my page. Am I missing something here.

Yeah I receive these messages everyday. Just ignore them and carry on.
This usually happens when people try to report your photos and don't know what they are doing.

IF they keep reporting and IF FB gets lots of such reports they may take your page down

If all the messages are essentially identical, then it's almost certainly a scam. Worst case scenario is that your page gets deleted as it's already been stated, but the likelihood of an actual lawsuit for intellectual property violations is probably extremely low.

I don't worry about it.They report all kind of sht...i am just sending a message back to them. After this they don't bother me anymore:

Hi.Thank you for letting me know that the video/image might be your intellectual property.Would you be so kind and provide use more information regarding the video/image.First you could point us to the original video/image which is in your possession/probably on a video sharing site/. Some additional documentation might be good also that the video/image is copyrighted.Details of the copyright holder.Thank you very much for your time.

If you advertise on facebook, contact facebook adverts team . They'll help you for one simple reason - you are a customer.

If there's anything reputable on their profile, possibly, most likely a scam though, I'd ignore them
