I have been doing keyword analysis and have just spotted than two competitors have left the .org and 1.net of their company name to buy.

the first company has 8000 exact local searches a month and is in business with the .com and .co.uk domain
Majestic seo says it has 22k backlinks of which 2k are unique

The second company has 1300 exact local search a month BUT has gone bankrupt.
    Website is also taken down

Should I buy these domains and build on them or can I get in trouble?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot use someone else's famous name to reap profit unless you had used that name before the famous company.

    See nissan dot com

    Short answer: it's not legal.

What you could actually do is to create a simple page/post where you compare prices of this company and your affiliate company.

Create unique content, title, h1 smth like "Company & Affiliate company price comparison" and go for some links. Should work fine, nothing illegal.

I do not know what is the law in your country but in mine, if you do not have something to do with the domain name eg: coca cola dot org any time coca cola can claim their domain in the court of law and they will win.

So I think this is a bad idea. not illegal in my country but you can lose it ay time.
