Beside site age, I see yahoo answer & hubpage. Do you guy think that this keyword is easy to rank? low competition, medium or high?

Not knowing the actual keyword, I believe it could easily be done in 3 - 6 months or so. Shouldn't be a problem.

Bear in mind that not all backlinks are shown on these websites, so it might actually turn out to be more difficult to rank the site than you thought.

I'm not sure about that one. There are some big names on the first page. Wal mart, amazon and eBay are going to be tough to beat. I would avoid it but I like to go for the really low hanging fruit

Though sometimes going for the juicy keywords at the very top of the ladder could land you some residual traffic (Some people just want a review from some ordinary folks, not Amazon or perhaps theVerge) counting on this to drive tangible traffic to your site is a leap of faith.

I tend to balance between low ranking and high ranking keywords. Low ranking keywords, though not easily used will give me more impression whenever the few people who decide to search for me show up. The juiciest keywords mixed with geographical specific keywords could be a good idea. For instance "buy an iPhone 6" is real hot cake - you have no hopes there. You could however amazing traffic with "buy an iPhone 6 Texas".. Get what I mean?

To all of you saying that the competition is tough based on seeing amazon, eBay and other sites; you clearly have either a serious lack of SEO knowledge or intelligence.

Those "big brands" that show up in first results RARELY and I mean EXTREMELY RARELY -ACTIVELY- target keywords. Furthermore you have a fucking yahoo answers site up there man... isnt that clear enough?

If you know your ABC, you should be able to rank top 10 within 6 months (by using legitimate marketing techniques) and maintain it for good. You should most likely reach first positions in about 8 months time and be able to maintain it withut a problem - again, for as long as you've used clean and clear marketing strategies -

I'm glad I know my SEO. I knew that keyword would be easy to rank.

Ranking the high comp keyword is not that much easy instantly.. To hold the good standard place in the SERP with the high comp Keyword.. You have to wait for 6-8 months.. If you are looking to rank instantly, you can do it.. But in return you will come down instantly.. Do prefer legit method to rank it.. That worth more in SEO.. Good luck with it..

You sure can rank but the amount if time it would take would depend upon your competition, including whether or not they continue link building.

I see Wal Mart on the front page for any keyword other than WalMart and I get excited

It all depends on your arsenals. If you have a low competition and don't have what it takes to get on page 1 it could take you 9months or more. What tools, skills and gadget do you currently have? You will need to analyze yourself first.

For low competition you can easily rank your site in a short time. But for high competition it may take 6 months to rank your site.

You can rank it by creating many high PR and authority sites like edu, gov, wiki sites etc.. But i m not sure about the time it takes for higher position.

It all boils down to how many sites are competing for it, and the authority of the sites that are ranking on first page..

search "yourkeyword" to see the number of results which are all the sites that are competing for it. (finding a keyword with less 100,000 competitors is ideal)

and you can check the authority or PR of the top sites ranking for your keyoword via seomoz other free services

Just see this thread!

FYI, now I'm ranking in the 1st position after 8 months of nothing in self-link building but natural social signals.
