Impulsively bought this domain few months ago, wondering if it's worth anything?

voiceofasia DOT news

It used to be a legit news publisher few years ago

Code:
https://issuu.com/voiceofasia

It has some good backlinks on it, but it has also been used as 301 redirect after it was dropped.

Thoughts?

if you don't care about ranking in google (which you should) it's a great domain for a news agency / site. There are many ways to get traffic, and in the coming years there'll be more and more once google is dead as a search engine

The initial idea was to rank it on Google, but considering it was 301'ed in the past, and how things are going with Google right now, that's close to impossible.

Let's say I don't consider Google as an option here, what would you do? Making a news/agency site and selling press releases?

I'd renew it for 10 years and hang onto it until someone makes me a good offer. The domain is great, someone has to want it, especially if you can advertise it.

Find some popular Asian forums (politics-oriented if possible) and participate in them (set up a news site first, that covers Asia, of course) and advertise the site in your profile / signature.

If you can't speak any Asian language forum marketing might be a problem... although, most sites nowadays are multilingual anyway, so you could do English content only.

Press releases are an option indeed, but only if you have either good traffic, or good SEO value, and since the domain has lost its SEO value (at least with google), you must focus on traffic (or hold onto the domain for long enough until someone wants to buy it)...

If you're going to set up a news site on it you could also advertise it in social media (Facebook + TikTok for example if you're naturally active on these sites), the purpose of working on the site is gathering that important traffic to make the domain really attractive to potential buyers.

You could also put it up for sale at at huge BIN (say $50-100k) after you renew it for 10 years, and still work on your site as usual. With such a great name, and with the rise of Asian countries to power (China especially), I'm sure that some rich entity will want it if enough eyeballs see it...

The domain looks good. I don't there should be any problem in making it an online news agency again.

Purely from a domain evaluation point of view.......It's a 3 word .news domain - I personally wouldn't even pay the registration fee for it

From the development side of things, it screams news - obviously, could be used as an online magazine or might work as a forum as Google seems to be leaning in that direction atm......

So you think it could rank on Google? Despite being used as 301 redirect after it was dropped for the first time?

yes, it worths 20 bucks
It's still a 200% profit but yea, I see where you're coming from

I know we all hate Google today, but I think it's delusion to think it's dying anytime soon.

To the OP, I don't think it'll immediately benefit you much SEO-wise, but if your target is to build a news website, it should work out. Google eventually picks up news websites long as they're consistent.

For some of us the earth is flat, but is it truly?
hey man, believe what you want, but nothing is eternal. And google's days are numbered, it's better to become open to other opportunities early (so you can be one of the 1st adopters and - hopefully - get some sort of advantage out of it) than to act shocked on this forum when google kill their organic listings because they're not profitable anymore (which I foresee will happen before 2030)

you can setup site and use it for sometime if results are great then continue it otherwise drop it.

Hi, bojanpeic. As far as I know, the domain name Voiceofasia.news was once a legitimate news publisher, with a certain historical background and potential value. It contains clear news industry keywords and is suitable for news, information or media-related websites. However, since the domain name was once used as a 301 redirect, it may affect its performance in search engines. From a market perspective, its value depends on whether the brand and traffic can be re-established. If you plan to hold or develop it for a long time, you can consider renewing it and gradually increase its value, such as by building a news website, accumulating traffic or waiting for potential buyers.

It depends on the domain name’s relevance, search volume, and market demand. You could check its value using domain appraisal tools or by consulting with a broker.
