Sooo, I've been fooling around with some domains and stuff and started to build some fresh sites (big ones - sort of) so I've took one of my single product websites that has visitors and great ranking I'm #1 and official site is #2 for certain keywords hohoho :) and I've done 301 redirection to newdomain.com/productname

That worked perfectly. Well... For a week straight.

After that original site that was ranking great ~200-250 visitors per day is now nowhere to be found (home page) but contact/disclaimer/about us are still in index when done in G site:sitename.com and yet new page on other site is not even indexed yet?

Is my site that had visitors completely fucked up now or it simply needs more time?

I've done 301s in the past but with the sites that I did not give a fuck about, but this was legit site with visits/sales so my question actually is: Is it dead? Or should I wait few weeks more and see what's up with it?

Any insights or comments are more then welcome on this specific situation.

Why did you 301 if you were #1?

Good question. Indeed... Well, as I'm building other site, just thought that would be good idea to give it a bit of start up by adding this single product to sort of multi-product website and by some logic it should rank pretty much the same. Right? It's 301.

I've had no idea that page (home page) will vanish from SE. I've done 301 in the past but didn't pay much attention to details. Maybe just needs more time.

If anyone have done anything remotely similar it would be good to hear what happened.

No one ever experienced the same?

Or I could rephrase this, no one was not stupid enough like me to kill site with visitors & rankings just for test. LOL
