I was looking for something completely different but I landed on this page that is about a wso...
scrolling down I looked at his photo and thought...usually if someone wants to put a photo of himself he chooses 1 where he is looking directly...not in that way...than I realized it was like in the photo he was looking at the buy button up on the right maybe to catch the attention on that? :D

Is this a known old marketing trick or not?
    sorry about ignorance o_O

Ps: I have deleted the name and all so np I guess...

I don't know... Did it work?

If you felt more inclined to click the buy button, then I guess it's a good marketing "trick".

Based on the position of that pic and the buy buttons, it looks like that might be the intent.

Regardless of the intention though, he sure did choose a crappy pic. lol

That is kinda neat. It would be a cool A/B test. Probably minimal, but would still be cool.
Seen one site, forget the name, but they're a pretty big company, big name clients. And they do A/B testing for everything from images to everyword in headlines, and through out the sales page, and eventually make small adjustments till they get the right combination. And showed some pretty good results from it. They really dumbed down the sites, made them really plain, I guess to not take away from the main goal, selling.
What was odd though, I looked through some before and after cases, and looked up the sites in the cases, and majority of them changed away from the design in the "after" picture that was supposed to be so successful. would love to know why.
Rambled a bit, but it was interesting lol.
