So I've got this domain my-keyword-phrase.com (3 dashes) and I'm ranking pretty well in the serps (#1 :p).

I've noticed that my niche is growing rapidly (100% traffic increse each month), so I though I might create aauthority site around it.

My domain is highly UNBRANDABLE. I was thinking if it would be a good idea to buy a new domain, and than do a 301 redirect from the old page. Or maybe I should stick with this domain? Ie. my domain is as stupid as tornado-vacuum-tutorials.com

Also, would you go for a keywordphrase+suffix or a non-keyword domain?

    WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

You're ranked #1, why would you do anything like a 301. You're just asking for trouble.

Build another site and do what you did to get ranked #1 or #2 then you'll have two spots in the top 10.

Exactly ! For whatever reason your traffic is steadily increasing at a very good rate. Work that site and keep if fresh. I would not do a redirect on it for any reason.

Sometimes domain names that you think are stupid are the ones that shine. After all what retard thought of Google ? :)

I'm in the same situation as you with a my-keyword-here.com domain. I wouldn't do a 301 and lose the value Google sees with a keyword in the domain. What I'm thinking about doing is continue to build backlinks to my-keyword-here.com and to brand it on social sites, buy a short and catchy domain and forward it to the site.
