I have no idea what to look for in these metrics. I just assumed that higher is better.

I found this domain which is very brandable, and cheap!

Is this good for an authority website?

Will it be easier to rank keywords if it already has PR?

Forget PR, that is what people used when I was young (at least, younger) :)

Metrics aren't great, in fact, kind of poor, I'm afraid. Anyways, you should always look the backlink profile (majestic, ahrefs). Maybe there are some gems hidden worth to check.

Go to archive org and see how it looked in the past. You don't want a spammy look-alike domain.

Use a site: domain search on Google. See indexed pages.

The more you know, the better :)

What about compared to a newly registered domain? Would this be better?

There is not enough information to evaluate that domain. You have to do more work to see if it is good, bad or ugly as Ch3Mik said. It could actually be worse.

It's 11 years old which can be good or bad. The good: it's aged. The bad: with that age, it's probable that it's been used to spam in the past.

So what you need to do is perform due diligence, check its past history and see. Its PR and DA are not marvelous, but if it's 100% clean it can be worked on.

    For backlinks I use Ahrefs.

There's more to it than just links though. You can also hire a professional from the domains forum here so they can check the past history of the site and give you a full report.

I have looked at old screenshots of it, and checked the backlinks, and it seems like the site was an ex business website for parent counseling. All the backlinks are from legitimate websites.

Edit - The person who owned the website was a female psychologist, and all the backlinks I have checked are all based around her profession, and are recommending her. Nothing spammy at all.

    No I didn't.

I don't want this for a PBN, I want it for my own website. I'm not really looking for something with great metrics, I just want something brandable with better metrics than a newly registered domain

DA 11 is pretty low. I've ranked my test site and got a DA of 18 and PA of 32.

Try getting better metrics, higher DA and PA check majestic, and one thing. Don't give a shit about PR, it's outdated.

Macro metrics say NOTHING about the SEO value of a domain. The only source of SEO value is backlinks.

Domain age is very nice so that one can rank his website, but at the end all is about your backlinks which should be powerful.
