Is there such thing as penalty for a single keyword?

Hi, my site is targeting like 5 keywords and one had a massive decrease, from page 1 to page 10. The other keywords stay in first page. Google dance I suppose? Or is there penalty's that only affect only some of the keywords and not the whole site?

    Thanks

Definitely, I've experienced this before. Had to do with keyword density and overuse. In my case it has lasted over a year to spite diversification campaigns.

"Red New York Widgets" was the example of the core. Any variation of this with the geolocation, or the color, or the widgets got slammed. Yet other keywords got stronger. So just be weary.
