Is there risk if I am on the same ip with other sites that aren't mine?

I'm trying to build an authority amazon niche type site but im hosted on the same ip with some porn sites... is that terrible? the sites aren't mind but on the same ip (it shows up as the same "neighborhood" in ravens tools). Will it affect google rankings/trust?

Maybe I'm paranoid but it's been a day since I put out some links and it's not indexed yet... with my last site it only took a day to get indexed.... argh

Yeah, It can be a potential problem. I've had sites listed in Spamhaus etc because some spammer was going wild on the same ip. You will always have a potential problem with shared hosting. If your site does start to build and get bigger then I would ask your host to get you a dedicated ip. Should only be $2-$5 a month extra.

I don't think that should be a problem. Your site cannot be penalized because of your hosting company.
