Is there 'common sense' when it comes to marketing?

    Hello,

    Recently I have been doing some IM and I feel like you never know what's up until you try it. I mean, say you want to monetize your blog through CPA, you may think : 'well this works, and this will not work', regarding a particular method, audience etc.

    However, how often you find yourself that when you are 100% sure something will work, it doesn't work, and when you think something will not work, it actually works.

    Do you follow your guts, or rather you approach every project like you don't know absolutely anything and you try out / test EVERYTHING?

    Just wondering :)

    You can only be 100% sure if you have tested it thoroughly; and by testing I mean testing it with different demographics and different website models.

    If your "100% sure" comes from an estimation based on your experiences, then you will likely fail.

    You need to test it,then see which is working or which one not.I did tried a method,its did not work in the beginning but after some months,i started earning some good money with it which i completely forgot about.

    What we call "guts" or "instincts" is not a "set" constant. Tarzan's instincts would be better than mine in the jungle. However, it doesn't mean he'll always be right.

    My point is: Instincts get better with experience. But experience never ends building up. The more you know the better you can estimate usually. It's not always about what you think will work. Even some of Steve Job's product ideas failed miserably. The market decides.

    I dont really go with common sense, guts or instinct; although sometimes it's where I begin. I go with the data or results that I get from my own search and research. I think, in marketing, research and getting the data are important in order to make better decision.

    If something does not "feel right" i tend not to do it. Ultimately, i always go with my instinct
