    Hi,

i used to have quite good success with MNSs some time ago. Then Penguin came and most of them were pushed out from TOP1000. I have checked several keywords and only big sites are sitting on the top.

Question: Can somebody show me a real example of a site (not neccessary MNS site, but prefferably) created after penguin that is nr 1 for at least 4k exact KW? I suppose nobody will probably show his site - it can be a site of somebody else - but i would really like to see such site!

There are several services here on BHW that provides all these usual backlinks (web2.0, wikis, social bookmarks, articles etc.) and i see "positive" reviews like "OMG it works, my site went from #80 to #15!". Ok...i am able to put my site with these backlinks to nr. #15 as well - but to nr #1 or at least to TOP 3? Not anymore...

Please show me one example that it is still possible...

this probably isn't going to help you, but I've noticed the same - however, well-aged mns sites seem to be doing very well, and I am seeing a lot of older sites in the results lately. (mns sites that are at least 10 years old I am seeing frequently on the first page, although not usually in the first spot)

and maybe that's the hint - have you tried buying an aged domain to start with?

Yes it's possible to rank #1 with a mns. No one is going to send you an example unless they don't mind the extra comp.

Take a look at my Journey thread.

    I currently have:

a 3600 local search sitting at spot 2
a 2400 local search sitting at spot 2
    a 5400 sitting at spot 4
    a 8100 at spot 3
    a 6600 at spot 1

All sites are EMD MNS style sites.

Of course, I won't disclose my sites, but it is possible.

Yes but you put effort into your sites :)

Multiple people have said the same thing over and over again.
"The days of just creating a MNS putting up 3 articles and getting to the top 5 are over"

You need to actually put some effort into the sites and backlink.

I would tell everyone who is having issues to read through dealsopoly's thread it is a wealth of information.

Since penguin is preety much all offsite being an MNS is not too relavent, just guess people put less effort into mns or more inclined to do fast seo and blasts on them which was hit hardest.
my best ranking site now is an mns i never finished or backlinked but atleast it doesnt have bad backlinks :p

I have lots in the top 3. Keywords range from 1000 searchs to 4k. I have only bought services from bhw members and 1 time on fiverr. I am sure someone can scour my post history to see what I have used. Most of these sites have less then 5 pages of real content. I also do my own web 2.0s and some other small stuff.

I've got one at no.5 for 2500 monthly searches, created after penguin.. Do your research on BSTs, and tbh I've found linkbuilding myself is pretty easy. Boring as hell, but easy.

I have a list of 25 keywords for MNS that I saved a few months back and I ran them all through Market Samurai and the SEO Competition for every single one consists of aged domains! :(

You are asking for a keyword with over 4k searches; I don't have any examples and I imagine that there are very few true MNS ranking for profitable keywords of that volume. BUT I have a number on MNS ranking for keywords with less than 1k local searches. It is easier to make 8x MNS and get them ranking than putting the work into one high quality. Penguin didn't hurt my sites chasing the lower volume keywords either where many of my sites chasing higher volumes were hurt. So, the MNS is not dead, but the old way of doing it probably is.

All mi MNS rank veary well before and after the penguin, if you want a example here you go with a Test site of mine "levonorgestrel efectos secundarios" (Just google it) basicly this site I created and forgot about and now it is on (1# local) (2# global) and as you see there are some "authority" sites but none of them are optimized for those keywords, I dont care for the extra competition as I wont be renewing the domain as earnings are to low.

so MNS are not dead and also I always keep building articles and ranking them to get more and more traffic.

Maybe you are right. You know...i used to have a free MNS blogspot domain that was nr #1 for 95k exact kw - before Penguin :) I suppose there are no such sites anymore...but maybe for lower KWs up to 10k there might be still some of them - i am searching for them but without success...

I see the same thing, AGED domains. It seemed like after Penguin older domains moved up some. I lost a few spots to them. Clearly a better link structure, pr, and volume. But im year 1 and they are 5-8 year old sites.

Ok mi site with most traffic is a MNS site with EMD that is 3# for a 74.000 global 12.000 local search so it is posible, I always build diverse links and dont blast to much, slow link biulding has worked best for me, keep searching and you will find some.
Note the site is 6-7 months old, domain age must help but not in all cases
