A suitable alternative for Google analytics is hard to find with the free option, I mean features wise. You can check metrica.yandex.com or statcounter though.

google analytics is the most complex site to track traffic otherwise they are insignificant

it’s been the same as long as I can remember - free for limited log retention then paid if you want more data in your logs.
