My site's traffic has tanked since Thursday. Do we have another major Google Update?

Or perhaps it's due to independence day?

Anyone else with same experience?

I have seen some flucttuations myself but I would not conclude that it is a major update just yet. There are many reasons traffic might change such as seassonal trends or changes in user behavior. I would give it a couple more days and see what the trend over all is beffore making any changes.

Holiday trafic may influence traffic studies, creating an impresion that demand is more than what it realy is. It would be wise to first establish if there is indeed any change in rankings or if traffic demand is generaly higher.

I had simmilar traffic drops in the past and some of them came back with no major changes. That is why I try not to overreact. I usually keep an eye on the trennd for a few more days and see if the rankings have really changed before making any adjustments. From my experience, patience usually works better than rushing decisions.

Could be either tbh if most of your traffic is from the US its pretty normal around July 4 Id wait a couple days before thinking its another Google update.

My goodness. Why are there so many "NEW" accounts replying. is this some bot reply?

The June spam update just wrapped up last week, and there is definitely some residual volatility shaking things up. If your primary audience is in the US, the July 4th holiday slump is almost certainly compounding the drop. Check your search console to see if impressions are steady before panic-modifying anything. ;)

In my opinion, each item should be loked at separately. If rankings remain unchanged but click decreas I would consider it as seasonaly related trafic. but if both decrese, then I will start investigating volatility due to update.

But if you do have the figures compare your trafic statistic against those from last year is holiday seaon. You may be surprise to discover that even though you are not losing any ground in ranking, you’re still losing trafic.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's an update just yet. Traffic can fluctuate for a few days for different reasons, including holidays and normal ranking volatility. I'd give it a little more time, monitor your data, and see if the trend continues before making any major changes.
