I'm talking about when you go to 'open' or 'save' a file. It will either send you all the way back to 'my computer' so I most times have to navigate 5 or 6+ folders deep to get the files I'm looking for.

The other thing it'll do is go to the last place you downloaded which is fine if you wanted that same folder but if not you have to go through the above process.

Since I'm always opening and saving stuff is there a way for me to quickly somehow shortcut my most used trees in these 'save' and 'open' windows?

I'm using XP for the record.

I know there is rocketdock and stuff like that which I downloaded recently and like but that isn't the same as what I'm after here since I will want to open and save things through the programs I'm using- either wordpad or firefox download for instance.

When you save a folder save it on your desk top.. do not save it in the defult location
that xp chooses for you. you have to tell xp where you want that file to be save

you could create a shortcut folder on your desktop and place shortcuts to your most used open/save folders in that. then you will just have to navigate to desktop->shortcuts->choose the folder. done

For firefox download you can set a default location where u need to save downloaded files before start browsing.

To do that just go to option from Tools menu and edit save location. :)
