I redesigned the website of a client (new design, new hosting, Onpage optimized including new URL´s ) and will soon deactivate the old site offline on the old hosting and bring it online on the new hosting. To save the old links, I will do a 301 to the new, optimized URLs.

Since the effect of 301s can take up to a few weeks until the link juice is passed and I dont want to lose rankings while waiting, is there a way to accelerate the process? And is there a difference between doing the 301s from your hosting or through a WP plugin such as "simple 301 redirects"?

Google recommends .htaccess 301 redirect.what the plugin does is ,it plugin creates an .htaccess file with required settings.so either way its good.

as far as i know there is no difference between doing 301 via hosting and wp plugin. bcoz both will write in your .htaccess file.

You can reduce the time of 301s by Pinging the old URLs. It will speedup the process.

    go to google webmasters tools.

fill url's and they will change them manually.

I haven´t thought of this yet!

My client used G00gles WMT, however I thought about to deactivate it to lower the risk of a penalty and use Yandex WMT instead. What do you think of this idea? I havent use Yandex WMT so far, but I´ve read only good things about it and I am pretty sure that you can change the URLs manually there, too.

You can do a re-crawl via WMT, if you're comfortable using WMT on that site :) That crawl will immediately pick up the 301.

Since my client already used WMT before, I think this really the best option. After it picked up the 301, I will dumb GMT and go for Yandex :D

yandex WMT is full bs. their analysis is also full bs.

go with google webmaster tools if you are doing white hat (it will only help you instead of getting down)
    but don't use google analyst , try statcounter.com .

I see. Thanks for the info!

My plan is diversify the anchors with manual HPR and helpful blog comments and forum posts, building many citations in HPR local and niche directories and getting links from my own PBN and manually build HQ web 2.0s using mixed anchors. Maybe I will go for some guest posting. I will not use any paid links or whatsoever. Will you still consider this as "whitehat" / safe for WMT?

first think what wmt can collect from your site ?
google know everthing about your site already.
they know from where you are getting links.
they know how many impressions you get.
they know how much organic traffic you have.
they know bounce rate of your site.

adding site in wmt is will only help , you will get notifications of unnatural link + they provide you daily updates of "real" rankings.

if you are doing local seo then do not add too many links to site , build links slowly.
best thing will be to get ahrefs reports of first top 10 sites and then copy their backlinks.
if you will have all backlinks of first 10 site then you will be able to out rank them easily.

Don't forget to get links indexed , google not index links of local niche sites easily. (instantlinkindexer.com will help you)

Thanks a lot! That is an interesting view on WMT. In the last few months I always read to stay away from it, but since big G already knows anything about one´s site either way, you have a very valid point!

Yes, that was my plan for local SEO. First cleaning out the link profile (my client bought around 50 anchor-heavy spam links before, but still does rank top 5 with a relatively new site and a shitty onpage) by anchoring just the URL / "see here" etc. Of course building citations. Once the anchor ratio is lower, go for the main KW´s and LSI´s (BL´s from comp., web 2.0s, if needed PBN and guest posting).
