I just read that the samsung galaxy will not be sold in the EU because of a court order against samsung. They are in a dispute with Apple over patent rights.

Does this mean that just major retailers won't be getting them. Or will they be blocked from being mailed to private individuals as well?

The only country you could get it is in Netherland since they have an ongoing case at the moment so they don´t have to stop selling there yet ..

"The patent struggle between Apple and Samsung is really heating up - after the initial victory for Apple that prevented Samsung from launching the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia, now a second Apple victory will prevent Samsung from selling the Tab 10.1 in Europe (except the Netherlands).
This is a preliminary injunction, which will last until the German court reaches a decision. Galaxy Tab 10.1 units that have already been shipped to stores will sell normally but there won't be resupplies until this is finished. Samsung may also have to pay a fine of €250,000 for each violation."

Get it now if you want it, or order it online.

So a independent supplier in the Netherlands could make a ton of money? There's no border controls in most EU nations, since most are part of the Schengen area.

Theoretically, but the fact is its pending in the Netherlands too and they're expected to follow suit. Its just that their laws differ so they can't automatically do it they need to have a judge hear it themselves.

So there will probably be smaller stores in other EU countries that slowly sell out and still have some in stock after the Netherlands ban comes.

So once a ban comes in,it will be illegal to import it? I'm not from the EU,But I think that theres money that could be made drop shipping it somehow, since the major stores wont be able to sell it. Thats why I made this thread.

Interesting enough this is about the design of the Ipad not any technological patents, if you can speak german, here is the official court filing. In Germany, Apple asserts not only an infringement of the said Community design but also cites unfair competition grounds, denouncing the Galaxy Tab as an iPad imitation. scribd(dot)com/doc/61993811/10-08-04-Apple-Motion-for-EU-Wide-Prel-Inj-Galaxy-Tab-10-1

I find this a very interesting legal precedent. I wonder if they will try to take it to America next?
