Everyday I keep hearing about companys going in liquidation and people loosing their jobs. What are the chances of a global depression.

Its happening now. Things are going to get ALOT worse. I welcome it, the world is fucked up as it stands. Fortunately making $$ through the net will be one of the last things effected.

    1. Nat. Enquirer -- facing bankruptcy.

    2. Mad Magazine -- only publishing 4 times a year, and exchanging paper mag for online mag.

    3. Actress Susan Lucci -- taking a major pay cut.

    4. Businesses are going out of business left, right, and center.

    These are BAAAAAAD times. :(

Even if we're not heading for a "depression", it sure as hell depresses me when i have to come into work every day and fear getting laid off.

The economy is only as bad as you let it.

I have been effected not at all by this, and do not see it happening.

The Internet has changed this world forever. From porn to postage, that's why they're gonna give the current TV spectrum for free internet, or at least part of it. it's probably going to be tax driven. Think about it 120.00 tax for unlimited broadband where ever you live, whether you use it or not. the government is gonna be serving google ads, lol!

itll be a depression if we don't fix it fast and properly.. Companies will downsize but I think overall that will be a good thing. There will always be turmoil in a drastic change. And the depression can actually be good for some people as the markets change and the smart ones adapt to it. You can actually make more money in a depression if you know what you are doing.

Apparantly the govt is gonna take down 6 military installations in the USA and swap them with camps o.o

Yep, it's gonna get worse, but for real estate investors it's great, so many foreclosures :D We are on the start edge of the real estate slump, which means that it is now a good time to buy investment houses, it will be better later on this year though. And yes i believe this is just the start of the recession. But like everything in life this is just part of a cycle, things will be better some day.

Said they were literally losing trillions!

I am not an economist or anything like that, but from what i know and read, depression and recession must happen. Not everyone can be rich, some companies must get liquidated , people must loss their jobs. System isn't perfect, it needs something like this to get it restarted/fixed. One day system will be changed, until then there would be stuff like this happening.
    Only the strongest survive.
Well..the strongest doesn't always mean the one with the most money.

This system is far from perfect. In fact the system has been intentionally designed this way. Debt is built into the system there will always be people who will suffer needlessly and the very few profit.

Half the worlds population survive on less than a dollar a day. 2% of the worlds population earn more than the other 98% put together.
Now with all the technology and resources we have dont you think this is a little fucked up... We must be the laughing stock of our galaxy. Poor human sheep at the mercy of the few powerful families that run this world.

Fuck i can feel this thread being closed if i go on any more.

Well, i live in the us, i can't see a depression coming if by "depression" we are talking 1920's depression where unemployment topped 25%. The most this recession will cause is 8%. But yeah, i work in the electronics industry and i go into work everyday fearing for my job. But we have a diverse range of customers and products, thats what is keeping us going. never put all your eggs in one basket ;)
