Only domain does not decide ranking. There are various other factors and you can work on them to achieve good rank.

If it is a niche site and the content well resonates with the topic then I don't think there should be any problem with it. You should not worry about ranking it compared to the .com domain, provided you do all the SEO stuff properly.

there's only one way to find out :)

But I think you'll rank
quoting myself because I just accidentally stumbled upon this website as I was reading an ebook... https://martech.zone

so, as you can see, uncommon TLDs do rank (this one in particular has over 10k keywords ranking in google and over 15k monthly traffic.)

So, yeah... the TLDs are not an issue if the right checkboxes (SEO, authority, value) are ticked :)

What I don't like with those custom tld's is constant price increasing on renewal, from 3 usd to 20, 35, 45, 60 ...

Yes you can rank, if the content goes with the user's search intent and well optimized for your niche.

From my experience tld doesn't matter if you have your website and content well planned and optimized.

I think TLDs doesn't matters much. You can go for it.

.tennis domain is a relatively new top-level domain. While it can be a good choice for websites related to tennis, it may not have the same level of recognition as more established TLDs like .com

If it is niche site about tennis of course yes, but for example if it is for business purpose for my experience it is hard to tell to people to use .tennis extension and often they confuse the site.

I don't think anyone care about tld, people even search Google in chrome to open Google.com to search something.

Don't much think about tld, if your content is good and targets the right keywords that enough, you will be ranked.

The domain name itself does not have a significant impact on SEO. Instead, it is the content on the website that matters most.
