Is tech gadgets a way over-saturated niche?

I have a domain, I have a 'sub' niche within tech gadgets I want to focus on.

I've seen some of the top competition in the sub niche. While there is a lot, like a couple million, the top .com results are all a bit shoddy and I think I can do a bit better. I can't do as good as some at getting access, like Mashable and Forbes, but reviews and posts like everyone else - sure. It's a topic I'm personally interested in and I've found that I've always had success focusing on blogging where my interests lie.

I'm just not sure if I should divide my time over there. The blog could really be set up under a day. I could post on it twice a week, spend an hour or so a week. I have one other big project going right now, with two others vying for attention with this third tech niche. It's just I have a domain for this tech stuff, not the other two yet.

Anyway, thought I'd get some insight here. I don't actually do blackhat stuff in practice, so this would all be straightforward stuff...unique content every week, a fan page and Twitter, professional looking and easy-to-use website. The basics.

    Thanks for any thoughts!

I wouldn't go for it, but if you think you can get to the first page and it will be worth your time, go ahead!
You just have to study the niche and see how tough the competition is.

Not only is it heavily over saturated but techies tend to be assholes to market too. Most of the time they won't fill out CPA's, they won't see PPC or CPM ads (adblocked) and whilst you can affiliate market to them, the conversion rate is less than stella.

    Real good points, thanks.

I'm not sure about the possibility of getting to the front page. Possible, sure...anything is. But more work than I'd want to put into it unless traffic suddenly spiked to make it worthwhile. But it seems like with all that traffic out there interested in technology and gadgets, there's room and enough traffic for a site making a modest $20 a month.
